A lot of techies get their sleeves from Waterford: http://www.sfbags.com/

You can get just a slim sleeve, different types of straps, pockets if you want, etc. For travel I just detach the strap and slide it in to my carryon (a Longchamp, a Bill Amberg Lotus bag; a travel Kelly or Bolide would work too). Although I am now trying to travel with an iPad instead as its capabilities get better.
If you want something fancier, there are lots of Etsy sellers doing custom laptop sleeves.

Thanks! Will check it out

A B is a bit too high profile ... Though a K prob is too. Also mine are epsom so aren't flexible/too high maintenance in that I'd be concerned about squashing them. Prob different story if i had a togo...

Double sens is a bit too casual and yes would be heavy...

My laptop is work issued and I'm not in the creative industries so it's not a MacBook Air/Pro... Actually I can't even remember what it is. IBM, Lenovo?! Donno. Just know I've got to lug it around...

If it's work issued, it's probably heavy and bulky. In most Hermes bags, it'll end up warping the bottom or stretching the handles. The only H bag I'd use for a heavy lap top would be a Garden Party because the rolled handles seem less likely to stretch and the bottom is sturdier than a Victoria or Double Sens, but I agree about the open top being less than ideal for travel. I'd stick with a briefcase that is designed to carry a laptop and has room for a small handbag (wallet on a chain or something similar) or a large wallet that doubles as a clutch (Constance, Kelly).

What about kelly depeche or sac depeche? Same issues as using a kelly? Or bc a briefcase reinforced to take a heavier load?

And too manly for a lady? I don't mind a bit of edge but not sure I could pull it off...

Good points about stretching and handles.

I do have to say the garden party is amazing. Have had it for around 8 years and has been loaded with heavy textbooks for open-book exams and work laptop plus all my stuff. Been through so much but still as tough as nails and looking almost new (I have the canvas/toile (?) one)

I've been through a love-bored-love-like cycle with my GP over the past 8 years...

That's a very long relationship with one bag! It sounds like it has held up incredibly well.

I've never seen a Sac Depeche in real life, but I think it'd be the most appropriate H bag for traveling with a laptop. I don't find it too manly for a businesswoman to carry, just too business-like to double as a handbag.

Sac Depeche is heavy also plus short handles. If you have a MacBook Air or something very light it could work.

I'm prob going to end up buying a H bag "saying" it's for my laptop-handbag duo purpose. But it won't work out and I'll end up with another H bag and my problem still unsolved. But hey, it's another H bag so I won't be complaining...

Ok... Since it doesn't seem there is a feasible 2-in-1 H bag that I also like, how about if we stick with the current situation of separate handbag & laptop bag.

Then what do u all think about using a herbag as a laptop bag?

And do u think it is a bit much carrying two H bags at the same time? Eg Lindy + Herbag
