18K gold is most certainly my favorite. Although I do prefer seeing diamonds set in platinum. Sterling looks great on tan bodies in the summertime; unfortunately, I don't tan.

I loathe white gold.

Does white gold really turn yellow with time ??

It doesn't exactly 'turn' yellow, but if it is rhodium plated (as most white gold is), if the rhodium starts to wear away, the gold alloy underneath will begin to show and that may be of a light, silvery yellow colour.

It can easily be re-plated, though.

Haven't I replied to this thread?

I voted "both," I think. White gold is very timeless and elegant, but yellow gold is bold, strong, and rich. Both are wonderful!

It depends...this is speaking hypathetically, of course, but for say diamonds (black, blue, yellow, white) I'd prefer white gold/platinum. But for a semi-precious stone (a really, really big stone for that matter lol) then i'd prefer yellow gold.

Thank you for your votes and replies, everyone! :flowers:

That's very interesting, mr couturier. I tend to prefer warmer coloured gems (yellow, orange, red-orange etc.) in yellow gold and cooler coloured gems in white gold.

Although, sometimes the contrast of colours is beautiful (e.g. blue sapphires in yellow gold).

Wearing a cooler coloured stone in yellow gold, or vice versa, can also make that colour of gold more wearable for someone it doesn't usually suit.

I luv both and wear both together...I used to just pick one or the other to wear but except the 24k yellow golds I have...I wear necklaces that have both to be able to wear either gold or white gold rings...I love layering them as a necklace with both too..its really cute!!!!

Bagluvluv, I think mixing them can look good, too, as long as I am wearing several items, so that it doesn't just look as though I got dressed in the dark!
