All my "important" (read: wedding, engagement, eternity)rings are y/g and white/gold, but I've been married for sometime, and y/g was what was in at the time.......I adore white gold, platinum looks like surgical steel to me. Rose gold is lovely but looks awful with my skin-tone. I have my pearls set with white gold.

I prefer platinum or white gold. My wedding ring is platinum and I just adore it. I only own 1 piece of yellow gold jewelry, the cross my grandfather bought me in Switzerland. I've had it for over 10 years and I never take it off.

Thank you to everyone, for your replies and votes! :flowers:

I'm also allergic to nickel, lovehermes and SerenitySue (amongst many other things   ) and used to react to it when wearing inexpensive sterling silver and costume jewellery (prior to the EU Nickel Directive [valid from the 20th January 2000] which reduced levels of nickel and/or replaced nickel white gold with palladium white gold); but, thankfully, presumably due to rhodium plating and wearing higher quality, more expensive alloys, I've never (yet!) had a problem with white gold (but then, I don't wear it 24hrs a day!).

Japan and China have taken a similar position to the EU on nickel, but the US is taking a more relaxed approach; only requiring jewellery to be labelled as nickel-containing. Many other countries have not yet taken a stance on nickel in jewellery and nickel white golds are still widely sold.

To anyone who hasn't already voted, please do! :D
