I almost always keep my bags in my passenger seat, but then again, I have no littles in my car and usually am driving by myself. I don't like putting it in the backseat, because I want to be able to reach my phone, make-up stuff, etc. If I have passengers, I usually put in on the floor next to their legs (if it's a long drive and I don't want them to be subjected to "bag-sitting".

I have a throw blanket that I always keep in the car, and it sits on that, as opposed to sitting on the bare floor of the car. :yucky:

After reading this thread, I decided to find something for my bag in my car (instead of putting my bag on the floor). I finally found it: bag hooks! Here are a couple of pics with my Balenciaga City (first pic with flash, second without):

OMG, I love it! Where did you find those? I have to get them.

To answer the question, I drive a pickup with a bench seat, so my purse sits right next to me. Sometimes I'll flip the center seat down (the back forms a huge armrest) and it'll sit wedged between me and the armrest.

Between my hip and the door.. see photo, just like Jessica :)

That's where I put it, too. I have one bag that slips down and pushes the button that adjusts the lumbar support on my seat. I'll be driving and suddenly I feel all this pressure on my back :confused1: It took me awhile to figure out that it was the BAG doing it :p

Never thought about putting the bag at my hip. Going to try that tonight, small bag - it might fit! I put my bag on the passenger seat and with my fast braking it falls off the seat too often. I put it on the floor, same thing. It fits behind the cup holder between the front seats, that is a good place in my car. It does feel secure to put it on the floor to the left of my leg. Don't know why I don't just put it there.

Agree about security having the bag on the seat. I lock the doors when I am driving, didn't think about a smashed window!

I tried hanging my bag strap around the head restraint similar to using the hook. I did not like the way the bag banged about. If it hung in front of the seat the bag was so visible to onlookers.

If the bag doesn't move around I don't worry about scratches. Germs, come on, clean the bag. Going to get germs everywhere anyway.

Rereading this, I need to improve my driving! Too much fast braking.

Yeah, they would make good stocking stuffers. I got the bag hooks from thebusywoman.com. Here's a link:

I prefer using the passenger seat when no one's there. Being short, I don't have much room to put a bag on the floor of the car by my seat, so I use the bag hooks only when I have a passenger (usually my DH). They work well with grocery bags too.

I put mine in the passenger seat, but if someone is with me then I put it in the backseat. If the car is full, I choose a lucky someone to hold it on their lap! ;)

Since I usually have the kids with me in the back, my bag sits on the passenger seat, but if I have another adult in my car, the bag goes in toddler seat in the back center or on my 9yr's lap if I have a full car. She knows how I feel about my bags so she takes good care of it, lol!

When I am alone, it travels on the passeger front seat LOL with the seatbelt on....LOL
the truth!!!!, when in dubious areas either between my hip and door or at times I have even put it between the back of my legs and the front of the bottom seat while I drive, so that if someone breaks my window they cannot take it............LIFE IN THE BIG CITY!!:heart:H

When I'm alone it sits on the front passenger seat. If I have other passengers then it's on the armrest or the backseat. I never put it on the floor ~ who knows where or what my passengers have stepped on last and left on my carpet?:wondering

I usually drive alone so I usually put it on the seat next to me. However, when there's someone else in the car, I put inbetween the two front seats..on my armrest thingy. :)

ME too! Though sometimes I accidentally knock onto the backseat floor. I never intentionally put my bag on the floor anywhere. It may fall, but never by my hands will I set it there. Some superstition I read long ago about money going down the drain if you put your bag on the floor.

The area under the arm rest is large enough for just about any of my purses in my car, generally I don't drive in areas where someone might smash my window to grab my purse and I rarely drive at night anyway so I don't think I have much to fear.

i drive a scion xb and behind the driver and passenger seat, there is a small hook for grocery bags. if i have passengers, ill put my bag on either of the hooks. keeps it from sliding if i stop short! ;)

Where do you put your bag when you are driving? I usually put mine in the front seat, but silly me, I forget (or am too lazy) to buckle her in and she constantly flies off the seat, spilling her contents all over the floor. If someone is riding in the passenger seat, I put her in a basket on the floor of the back seat. This keeps her clean and keeps her from being flung around. Leaving your bag in your lap can be dangerous, as we were discussing on another thread. I have tried this and the bag has gotten stuck between my lap and the steering wheel or the strap has gotten caught on something, preventing me from being able to steer. Not to mention where the bag would go if the airbag went off! So what creative solutions do you have for your bag when you are driving?
