I never have it on the passenger seat too tempting for quick smash and grab crooks, I loop the handle around my gear shift and it rest on the floor hardly anyone ever rides in the front so it's safe and clean.

If I'm solo, it's in the passenger seat or in the floor in front of the passenger seat, depending on the distance I'm driving and if I think I'll need anything.

If it's a very short distance it's on the center arm rest, whether I'm alone or with someone.

If I'm driving and I have one passenger, it's in the back floorboard behind the passenger side.

If I have a car full of people I usually stick it in the floor on the passenger side.

I WISH WISH WISH WISH my car had a place for my purse between my front seats. It DOES, but it's not practical, not the way I have it set up. Maybe I'll rework it!!

Passenger seat if empty which it is most of the time. Also depends on the bag, if it's small enough it can go between me and the door or on the middle console. If it's larger it goes on the floor behind the passenger seat. I drive a Jeep so in close quarters I can reach behind the seats easily.

I read the safest place to put your bag is the trunk which is so inconvenient and ridiculous. What if you get pulled over and need your license? What if you need your sunglasses? What if you get rear ended and the trunk won't open? And that suggestion came from a police officer!
