Bond Street put a Birkin out on Sat morning which I missed, so they are more than happy to say if there is one available. I just missed it.

I didn't get the impression they were saying no just for the sake of it.

I have spoken to the manager about this before and according to her, if they have a bag not on PO, they always put it out - no exception. I do not think they will get very far if they start lying to their customers about what bags they have. That would be dishonest and utterly unacceptable.

I know that Hermes on Bond street keeps a number of bags for style as well as for fashion shoots / ad campaigns / product placements. If you are serious about a bag, you should just ask.

I agree. I was specific in what I was after. They were very helpful and would have done more, but I have a regular SA I deal with elsewhere and wanted to see what they had. Ask and you will get.

From what I understand SO and PO are all at the discretion of the store manager. So if you have a good relationship with an SA, perhaps you know the manager personally, I am sure you can have as many PO's SO's as you like (or as many as the store manager can get away with).

The manager is there to make as much money as possible for Hermes and at the same time, to protect the exclusivity of the brand. I am quite sure that if you are really-really rich, Hermes will come to you, and you can have your personalised birkin made within 2 weeks. [ok I am guessing here, but people with first hand experience working for family offices can elaborate].

London has a huge list of clients - the last time i was in the store, the PO and SO list of bags go into the hundreds !

here is my take: I think you can judge by how high up you are on the list of clients:
1. If they could not tell you "when" the list be open in advance, you are just "ordinary".

2. If they can tell you the exact date in advance, you are quite high already,

3. but if you are a true VIP... they call you when the list is not even open yet in case there is something that might tickle your fancy....

so true.. the word "list" is never even mentioned...!

I just went to Harrods today to enquire about a SO Kelly and was told that it I had to wait for the list to open. Does anyone know if this is true for Bond St or Sloane St? I really just want to see one IRL. xx

Sounds like they may have thought you wanted to do a special order. Did you call it a So Kelly or a S O Kelly? If it was the later then they thought you wanted to do a special order

Bond Street and Selfridges often have So Kelly's in stock

^Thanks Mooks! I was def specific about So Kelly. She said that you had to have your name on the list for the So Kelly and Gypsiere. I'll try the other shops.

There was a Parchemin Gypsiere at Bond street this afternoon. It was on the shelf just waiting for you...

There was a Gypsiere on the shelve at Selfridges once, but the SA told me that it was not for sale as its a "show piece" only - possible as they wanted to promote the new bag in London. I ahve anothe business trip to Paris coming up, so will be hunting for a bag to bring home then.

Thanks Mooks for the update. I was working my way to Bond St. and got held up in Selfridges in the shoe dept :shame:. They aren't getting any more So Kellys this season. The ordered 2 and both of them are gone. I think I will try Sloane St. this week.
