I really get ur point there are so many beautiful gemstones out there but you also have to keep in mind that except for emeralds, diamonds and corundum minerals such as rubies and sapphires are the most durable when it comes to jewelry. Not sure about you but I’m hard on my jewelry and wear them daily without taking it off sometimes for months straight(shower, beach, exercise, clean, cook...)
I would really be careful into buying any colorful gemstone engagement ring some gems are more delicate than others
Well, my sister doesn’t share the crazy love of Fancy Colours I was born with (coloured diamonds..).

She has a large, very high quality amethyst, with 6 small diamonds in 18ct yellow gold as her engagement ring, which she has had for 27 years now.

It still looks beautiful -although if I’d have married I’d have have a coloured diamond, she used my Bond Street discount to get all of her engagement and wedding jewellery , and it’s a beautiful ring, much nicer than all of the plain solitaires which I see everywhere , it has a beautiful character..she loves purple so it suits her.

I think everyone is different, if you look after your ring, a semi precious stone as long as it’s 7 on the MOHs scale, and well looked after, Can work..

I’m pretty sure emerald is easy to break.
Only if it’s heavily included, and you hit it on the inclusion..high quality emerald, well looked after should be fine.
I have a very clear Zambian emerald which is very green, no visible inclusions.
I don’t wear it much, as I wear diamonds(although it’s set in white gold with diamonds, but I don’t baby it when I do (although I DO look after all of my jewellery anyway).

I don’t like paper clip-style chains. I know they’re very trendy now, but they’re just not my fave.
They’re not very practical either-I’ve only ever made one claim on my jewellery insurance ..I had a South Sea pearl pendant on a paper clip chain bought from Australia.

The chain broke….they’re very flimsy however thick they look(I wear my chains all of the time).
I claimed on my insurance , who paid out, but I didn’t replace it, I put the money towards a diamond ring lay-by.

My unpopular opinion is I think the Cartier love bangle is just too popular and tired....I love gold bangles but not this one!
I think a single one is classic but the way people stack multiple ones these days is tacky.

Also boring imo is the vintage vca bracelet in mop or onyx or whatever other rainbow color it comes in. When people stack multiples they remind me of collectible kids jelly or charm bangles. Just tacky.

I agree with VCA but I do want to get the onyx one....lol! guilty. I just don't really like the Cartier love tho
