What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

My latest unpopular opinion - sometimes I wonder if some H clients are suffering from some form of Stockholm syndrome. I see them comment about very poor service or bad sas yet the client goes back to shop again and again.

And when they get their bag after ridiculous hoops and spends and bad service they say their sa is an h fairy and gush about how great the brand is. And then proceed to deal with the same level of poor service and games for the next bag. :confused1:

Talking about how much you love Hermès, the heritage, craftsmanship, showing how much you know about the brand, maybe even talking down on new H customers, and yet you keep the hardware stickers on your bag?!! 😂😂 Very hypocritical
The first thing I love to do when I bring any new bag home is peel the stickers off. It really makes me feel like the bag is mine. Respectfully I can’t fully agree with this UO if it’s a blanket statement. I sense that many in this forum and others like to keep their bags as pristine as possible. Some even buy hardware protectors. Not sure how these folks can be placed in the hypocrite camp. Maybe that’s my UO for today.

Or perhaps I misunderstood your UO.

Not sure whether this will be unpopular, but I believe that many influencers are flexing with superfakes out of Russia, Italy, and China. What else could explain this sudden onslaught of everybody and their mama showing off their dozens of Bs and Ks???

Few can discern whether these decent to high quality (I would guess $1500 and up) bags are fake in a filtered online photo.

Couldn't agree more. I don't want a pristine bag. I don't beat them up, but I don't baby them either. I have never looked at my H bags as "investments." To each their own, but I cannot imagine leaving the stickers on or using "hardware protectors". I had never even heard of that until fairly recently.

Here's another opinion that I am CERTAIN will be unpopular. I absolutely HATE the Himalayan Porosus Birkin. I think it's CREEPY looking. In fact, I don't like exotic skin Birkins and Kellys at all. ESPECIALLY the shiny ones.
I love exotics and don’t share that view for croc/gator - however I get the heebie jeebies for some ostrich ones… the realistic texture with skin colored tones that resemble actual bumpy flesh 🤢

But ostrich in blue, green, pink etc carry zero creep factor in my book 🙂

I'm with you. Can't do any exotics.

Same with B25s, Kelly mini or pochettes, or any kind of micro bag--not my thing, but is for what appears to be most handbag fans. I dread the day larger bags come back in style because then my ability to buy them for less on the resale market decreases.

I take my stickers off all of my designer bags so i figure why wouldn’t i take the ones off of my Birkin? I don’t feel like a bag is truly mine unless i take the stickers off and I think the stickers left on looks tacky, it’s giving “i will probably resell this later” vibes.

I think that if someone preaches about how much they love Hermès and the craftsmanship of the bag then surely they should be able to take the stickers off and fully enjoy the beauty of the bag and also trust in the good quality of the bag and it’s hardware, and if it gets scratched that’s what the spa is for!

More often than not people who keep stickers on seem to be resellers or thinking some day they may sell the bag. I’ve seen one ps who keeps stickers on all bags for years and the person insists it’s to keep bags pristine but then you see them selling several of these older bags when they acquire new ones. The stickers really affect price I guess. I’ve said it before. It needs to be store policy ripping off these stickers by Sas in store just like Rolex.

Here’s my latest unpopular opinion. H’s company overview is stated the below.

If they really put people at the heart of what they do, they wouldn’t have this whole game system. we wouldn’t hear so many comments about rude and snotty staff. We wouldnt see so many questions about unresponsive Sa’s. loyal Clients would get more than a stinking catalogue once or twice a year after annual regular spends. Of course there are instances where there are bad clients but when you see SO many complaints and things aren’t appearing to change you wonder whether you really want to continue shopping with them.

COMPANY OVERVIEW

Since 1837, Hermès has remained faithful to its artisan business model and humanist values. We place people at the heart of what we do and aspire to make a positive impact on the world. The freedom to create, the constant search for beautiful materials, the transmission of a savoir-faire of excellence and the aesthetic of functionality define the singularity of Hermès, a house dedicated to making highly-crafted, beautiful objects made to stand the test of time.
