Unpopular opinion then here...I adore petit h. The prices are friendlier than the non-recycled line, but what I like most is the unbridled creativity. Some of the items are gems - beautiful wraps, bags, home items - some are duds for sure - some are simply inexplicable, like the leather cupcakes, but people love them and they make people smile. And at least the little ribbon charms are free!
I live near the Sevres store and so I see cool workshops and displays all the time. Last year there was a small house in the window made entirely out of Monde d'Hermes magazines that someone had marked for disposal and shredded. The petit h team thought it was wasteful and they made this entire intricate house, at least three meters wide and long and as tall as the window.
It's also a pun btw, thus the small "h" in the name
Sadly they dont stock them in Singapore / Australia websites anymore....

I feel like there’s a huge disconnection within Hermes. On one side, there’s the craftsmanship and simple, elegant designs. On another, there’s Hermes feeding an algorithm the H, CDC, medor, horse, chaîne d’ancre, and bridle (and the list continues) motifs and asking it to make new permutations that just don’t make much sense in my head. Some designer at some point must have also asked an AI tool what are all the possible ways of putting different amounts of diamonds on a H Heure watch.

I just do not quite see how the looks on the runway make sense with the looks offered in store and online like below. To me, the runway looks feel like the Hermes I have known and loved for decades. It almost seems like Hermes should just make a diffusion line like Polo Ralph Lauren and Purple Label like they had with Hermes sport a long time ago.

I see what you mean. But I think they want to attract and expand to a crowd that wants a more “youthful and fun” vibe? On the other hand I can see how if someone who has been a long standing customer and have so many timeless pieces that some may want something “different”?

In other words market diversification

I completely agree that they are diversifying, and I wouldn’t say that any is better than the other as they are rather different. Yet, the way that it is all bunched together makes it feel like there’s two distinct product offerings without a clear cohesion other than the Hermes motifs used throughout. This leads me to wonder if Hermes will ever create a separate space like they did for Petit H for more youthful and trendy pieces.

I agree with the lack of cohesion. But I also don’t like diffusion lines. I think it cheapens the brand. Maybe unpopular opinion. But Hermes is known for their “whimsy” lol

This is not ann alternative to Dior book tote but an overpriced reusable shopper to carry your groceries.

LOL I have this! It’s really large and you can fit a LOT of loo paper and other bulky items in it… (or four beach towels, a Sonos speaker, several iDevices, a couple of kaftans and three caps/sunhats on family trips ).

Lol I’m not that mad at it. It’s kinda cute and tbh isn’t the Dior book tote kind of a overpriced reusable shopper? *ducks and runs*

The lack of cohesion/curation is really obvious in-store (at least here in Melbourne). If there’s a place for lipstick, nail polish and fragrance in the H lineup, sooner or later there will probably be a place again for a diffusion line. And that will be a very bad thing (unpopular opinion).

I’d say the Dior is even more in that category since people are actually meant to use it as a handbag (which really shows the design team totally misunderstood the recent Gen Z trend for carrying cheap calico totes)

At least bring in some sunglasses. I need to upgrade my shades and running out of things to buy

I was eyeing this last week to possibly use as a resort / beach bag. Is it functional? Does it fold flat to go into a suitcase? I hesitated as I thought it won’t be a good carryon/personal item due to the open top.
