What's your FIRST designer bag you ever bought?!

The first designer handbag I purchased was for my HS BFF. This was 26 years ago when I was a year out of college and fresh off of a year of active duty. I thought I had a huge endless bank account and knew she was already bitten by the designer bag bug. I went into the LV shop in SF and bought her the standard LV monogram bag of the 80's and gave it to her as a college grad present.

It's been almost 30 years and she still has it today along with all the other bags she's acquired. Now I indulge my middle sister who is a huge LV girl. I'm that awful woman Anna Wintour gasps at with a plain coach bag tags, and I'm okay with it. What's on my feet is what I care about.

But I think I really want a Chanel bag, I'm just waiting for the right one to catch my eye and call out my name.

My first designer handbag was a Michael Kors. My interest in designer handbags and labels was all due to the influence of watching "Sex and the City"; I had never even heard of Hermes before!!
Anyways, the Michael Kors I bought sometime in 2010 or 2011, on sale. At the time, I did not want to spend too much. Sometimes I regret the purchase, as the bag, though gorgeous, is too big and heavy for me. Only carried it a few times, but intend to get more use out of it.

My first designer bag was Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 in monogram canvas in 2004 when I was 18! I've been in love with LV since seeing a spread on Teen Vogue with the multicolor monogram speedy 30 when I was 16! In those times I hardly ever saw a LV purse when I was out! :hbeat:

I visited the Fendi boutique in Houston weekly to keep an eye on the backpack I wanted.... it was $325 back then... probably a decade ago.... I would go inside and try it on. The salesperson told me I was going to wear it out before I bought it! It went on sale for $260, and I bought it. Wish I had a photo! It was the soft coated nylon... I wore it until it fell apart! Wish I still had it! This is a good post and a good memory.... thank you! :-)

In the '80s, Liz Claiborne was all the rage. I was in high school, around 14 or 15, and was thrilled that my mom was willing to buy me my first designer purse! (I'm sure it wasn't considered "real" designer, but to me and my circle of friends in the middle-class Midwest, it was!) It was a little beige shoulder purse with the distinctive Liz Claiborne triangles printed all over it.

I just did a Google search and found a picture of the exact bag on Etsy. I was SO tickled to have this bag since it was by far the nicest thing I owned. Ah, memories!
