What's the most disappointing bag you've ever bought?

So far I have yet to buy a bag that disappoints me. Hopefully that always remains to be the case.

My most disappointing designer purchase, however, was an Alexander McQueen card holder. I love the design and the layout of it, the details, etc... but I decided on buying a glittery one and the glitter sheds everywhere. I thought this probably would eventually stop but it never has. I stopped using it and bought an LV business card holder instead because I was constantly having to remove glitter from the inside of my bags and the other things inside of them.

I would buy an AMQ SLG again but nothing glittery this time.

The re-release of the Coach Classic Bucket a few years ago was a big disappointment. I bought the black and pre-ordered what was supposed to be an orange with reddish tones. I returned the black one the next day- the quality had gone downhill- thin leather, cheap brass and it had a weird smell. When the orange one came in, it was Halloween orange. I couldn't buy it.

I still have my original British Tan bucket from 1994 and the leather is amazing. I sold off most of my Coach bags but kept all the ones made in NYC.

That's why I rehab vintage Coach bags, they are practically indestructible. I ordered the re-release in purple.OMG! The quality was so shoddy, back it went. Nothing like the old glove leather.

A Kate Spade Carlisle Street Miles in black patent. It was on sale for 75% off and I still thought I paid too much. It didn't fold up nicely on the sides and it looked bulky on me.

on the upside, I completely agree with Chowlover & LVloveaffair about vintage coach being fabulous, though. I've never had a bad experience with older coach bags.

Anything from an outlet-Kate spade, coach, MK etc. Coach used to have fun outlet bags but ever since the new designer took over its boring city. Won't even go into a regular Coach store anymore. And regular MK stuff can be found cheaper in department stores when there's a sale.

Hands down the most disappointing was the Valentino Lacca Bow Dome Satchel. I'm a pink loving girly girl so this feminine confection made me weep with joy when I saw it online!

In reality, this bag was horrible. I'm super careful about my bags. I always want them to look as close as new as possible. Well, this bag was my horror night! The coated canvas / Lacca crap it was made out of wrinkled and crimped the first time I carried it. It was so bad that after just 3 wears, the bag looked like I had thrown it in a pit with rabid orangutans. It looked like shiny, rumpled pink construction paper.

It took 9 months but I finally sold it at a significant loss on eBay (with pictures and descriptions of the crumples). I was just glad to get it away from me.

And I've never bought Valentino since. 😳

Interesting as I debated for a long time whether to buy that bag and the other bow style bag and ultimately decided on neither as something kept telling me I would regret it. Your post confirms that I should always listen to my gut feeling.

That's too bad... the picture of the bag made ME weep with joy too! I mean it is an adorable bag. But sounds like it is only good to look at- def no good!

I have quite a few...

The PS1, size small, bought shortly after the model was launched. I thought I'd love this bag but I didn't, somehow it was not nice to use. On the plus side the leather was absolutely gorgeous. But the hardware was cheap-looking and flimsy. The bag kept falling off the handle (not good in you wear it cross body while you cycle...). The PS customer service was a disaster. Still I forced myself to use it quite a bit, but ended up selling it (and made no loss).

The Alexander Wang Rockie. I actually bought two of those. One was returned, one sold almost without using. I was appalled at the (poor) quality of the finishes (the stitching, the side of the handle...). The hardware was of different materials and color. The patches of leather were uneven, and not an intentional it-is-supposed-to-be-like-this way uneven. I have also had very bad results with AW clothes I have to say.

A Balenciaga Day in Plomb. I feel bad about this one as all my Bals have been very good, but the color in this one faded big time and in a very uneven way. I took it to my cobblers and dyed it black. It is funny how this style feels dated now...

The Celine small bicolor clutch. Very pretty but I am glad I bought it on sale. The leather scratches when you look at it. Still have it but almost don't use it.

the list is quite long but the most recent bag I bought that was truly disappointing was the SL teen crossbody bag - the leather felt like pleather, perhaps I am a bit spoiled in terms of leather quality bec my bags are H, CC and Tods, all of which are really high quality leather companies but I did not expect such low quality (although the price is on the low end, so perhaps expectable?).

Not a bad bag but back in the early 2000s right after college, I bought a Burberry backpack with the intention of using it as a bag. It took me only a couple weeks to realize that I wasn't in college anymore and didn't need a bigger bag since I no longer needed to carry books. I sold the bag and downsized to a smaller Burberry bag. And that was the start of my love of small handbags.

Valentino isn't what it used to be... Do you remember what the 'made in... 'Label said?

Saint Laurent Baby Satchel Duffel. It is so heavy for its small size. Also, the strap was difficult to remove and the bag keeps turning over when I lift it from the strap. It was so cute, but I wished I had returned it the moment I opened it from the packaging. Big mistake.

Balenciaga City. I could never get the strap to stay on my shoulder, it was constantly sliding off! Since the bag would not stay on my shoulder I would always have to put it down somewhere when I wanted to get something. Add to that the corners scuff easily and fading of the leather. I sold both my cities. Such a shame, i love the colors they come out with :)
