Aw, thefannieffect, I'm sorry this happened to you. The same thing happened with my origami Damier wallet a couple of years back (which has been discontinued for a long time now). I went to get it stamped and when it was brought back to me, they had one of the letters crooked and the second dot in between the letters was a different size than the other dot! And this was at the flagship store in Toronto. Nevertheless, I see the mistake every time I open the wallet. I went back later and asked but at first the SA pretended not to see the mistake and after I showed him with my finger he said there was no way to change a hot stamp once it's been done. I guess it's a risk we take when putting our bag in the hands of someone else to alter it. It's so unfortunate but I've tried to just re-program the way I think about it when I se eit, like I think of it is as a complete original and unique item, LOL.

Thank you for every reply! It's amazing how much you know and all of you have incredible taste!

2 things happened, since my post.

1.) I went to the store, to check out the options. In the end, the speedy 35 looked ridiculous on me. The SA suggested to just check out the Neverfull MM. Funny it is, but I fell in love. So maybe I don't hate totes that much... hahaha

But the second thing broke my heart, and at this time I don't want to buy anything. Not long ago I finally got my first LV piece. It's a vintage pm planner, and I worked really hard to buy even that piece. On Friday I went in and left it there to get it hot stamped, as it is my first piece and want to have to forever and ever to remind me all of the hard work I did.

Today I went in to pick it up. Both SA's were really nice and showed it to me. The hot stamp is in a completely different place and not even straight. I said to them, that this isn't the place I choose. One of them was like " ooh we couldn't do it there so that's why it's in a different part". I didn't say anything in the store, because it's done, there is no going back.

I'm just devastated now... I know it's stupid, and silly and I sound like a b*tch, but they didn't even call me to ask what I want... This is my first piece and dreamed about since I was a child... now it's ruined and don't want to even look at the bag...

So at this point, I decided I don't want to buy anything. I'm so sorry for this long rambling, but nobody understands it, even my boyfriend is saying get over it... Am I really stupid and crazy?
I am VERY sorry this has happened to you. Did they use the golden foil to hotstamp the item? You can try removing it with duct tape. It takes patience, but it will work. The imprinting can't be removed, but the golden color can, if that makes sense.
You can also take the item back to the store and ask for a repair since they messed it up and didn't do it according to the placement you determined.

Ok so I’ve just started a new job and I’m looking for a suitable work bag.

I like the Neonoe but I’d really like some other suggestions. My only criteria is that it fits a 13inch laptop and has silver hardware! I’ll even put it out there that I’m open to other brands!

I hate to say it but I can’t stand the NF, but I would like to know your thoughts on coated canvas vs leather in terms of wear and tear.

Congratulati9ns on your new job.
I think it is best to go to a LV store and try on different bags to see how they look and feel when carried.

One of my favorite bags is the regular Noe in the large GM size. I had my first one for over 20+++ years and then gave it to my best friend who used it all the time. It was indestructible. While I think the Neonoe style is pretty II feel the bag has some major design flaws. LV cut corners in making that bag. Two things that stood out to me when it was introduced was the way the handles are attached to the bag which to me is not secure in carrying heavy items. I loved my Noe because it had the thick leather pieces all on both sides which made the straps secure. That I should one thing I look for in a bag. Also the Neonoe will have some major problems with the top edge due to the was it is constructed with the opening and no leather strip to protect it. There are threads here which people already show glazing and splitting problems in this area. I feel it is going to get worse in the future for people who own these bags.

There are many great bags that can work well for you. But it is hard for anyone to tell you since everyone has their own needs in a bag. I at first loved my Neverfull MM and GM, used them for years but then the handles and open top kind of made me not want to wear them as much. So I got rid of them. No regrets.

I have had a few beautiful leather bags from different high end designers and have also, loved my bags but after many years I still feel that LV canvas has been the one item that lasts with no wear showing. Leather bags will eventually show corner wear and the one does have to worry about the rain and snow. I would pick canvas over leather for a work bag because for me it has been more carefree.

Another thing I thing about is hav8ng my items secure in a bag. I have used some orgiizers like the large toiletry case and makeup case in my Noe to keep my items secure and easy to get too, I used them in my Neverfulls too but also felt the Neverfull was still so open. I have had a few totes from LV but needed up selling them because for one reason or another they didn’t work out.

The Speedy 40 is a great bag and can carry a lot of things. I use my Speedy 35 for everyday use and feel it is light to carry but The heaviest thing I have is a IPad in it. Go shopping and try things 9n. Last thing you want to do is order a bag and hate it when you receive it. And if you buy in the store you can check the bags out to see if they have no defects because their quality control is getting worse with each passing year.

I am not recommending the Speedy for your laptop I was trying to give feedback on what my journey was with some bags. Handles or straps are the most important th8ng for me in carrying a bag. I prefer them to feel secure and be able to take wear. LV designs vary so much that one may thing something is great until they actually use it. One design is the new Montsouris GM backpack with the thin Neverfull like straps versus the original thick canvas straps and leather bottom. Pack the new and old model with the same weight of things and the newer design to me will be more uncomfortable to carry.

My reply is to try things on in person. It is next to impossible to make a good decision without seeing and feeling how a bag feels and looks.

Did you end up picking a bag? I have certain bags I want to wear for work but I get gun shy because I recently started feeling like I should wear understated bags for work....even though I see plenty of women wearing designer bags to work. So I’m curious what you decided on since you just started at a new job .

Congratulations on your job! The artsy is really nice and roomy, have you seen that?
I myself have a Phenix as a work tote. Love the monogram / black leather combo and it actually closes with magnets so it’s super practical. However I don’t think it fits a 13’ laptop. I have the mm, maybe if they come in a GM size, it would be a good option. You would have to go the prevloved route though, since they have gone out of production. But they are widely available on Vestiaire and other sites.

Congrats! Let’s see? My retiros are great to fit a 13 in laptop. The both PM and GM fit my laptop nicely, but of course, the GM has more room in it. Retiro is out of production, so you’d have to find it preloved. I agree, the speedy 35 and 40 are great, but fitting a laptop in it is not a good idea. In terms of other brands, maybe a longchamp and just keep your laptop in a sleeve or have a good case on it. If you aren’t carrying much, a Chanel GST or Cerf Tote could be a good option. In the Cerf, it can get heavy due to the leather, but, like I said, if you’re not carrying much then you should be fine.

I just got the MM and am struggling with space constraints for a 13 inch Dell for work.

It can hold the weight but the 13 inch Dell is much heavier then the Mac Book Air.
It may stretch the handles out and cause the glazing to crack. That’s what happened to mine and when I brought it to LV for repair they did tell me it’s from carrying too much weight.
Since the bag was less then a year old they replaced the Chaps and the straps free of charge but told me I would have to pay for the repair the next time.
So of course I didn’t listen because I’m thick headed and continued to use the bag for work and now the straps look terrible again and the bag has been sitting in its dust bad in my closet for over a year now [emoji53]
