I can't seem to make 16's work for me...feel so tight. I wish I could since pretty much everything they sell is on a 16.

I will say I took a couple of pieces in to have them extended and they actually did it for no charge....which was awfully nice.

Oh, and I had a 16 I wanted to have as a 20 inch length actually...so I took one of my extra 16 inch chains and asked them to take 4 inches off and add it to the other chain. The only charged $40 for that....so I cam out a bit ahead then what they would have normally charged

The 16" one that is "standard". I don't have any shorter necklaces, and I liked the way this looked in the Bridget Jones movies. :giggles:

The way I see it... I can always exchange the chain for a longer length if it doesn't work out for me. I've been wearing a borrowed 16" chain around the house for the past few days, just to get used to the shorter length. It seems OK.

Ahhh, me too! I posted about this here http://forum.purseblog.com/the-jewe...discussion-thread-756234-81.html#post23593805 when I got my DBTY for Christmas. I wish everything came in a choice of 16" or 18". I feel so claustrophobic in 16". I can't wear turtlenecks, either! hahah. I've sent off the 16" to have 1" added, and they charged £16. Maybe I should have visited the store. Seems a bit rough, considering the 18" was the same cost, and I don't think it would have been as much to have chain removed. Hopefully it fits nicer when I get it back.

Personally, I prefer shorter chains.

BUT... that's only because I have a two year old son and if he sees anything that dangles he WILL grab it and rip it off of my neck (as evidenced by the box full of broken necklace chains in my drawer that I will either have repaired all at once or sell off to purchase something else, eventually...). The shorter and less noticeable, the better!

I'll wear longer chains when he is older and knows that Mommy's shiny things are not for little hands.

I absolutely agree...I can't figure out the pricing structure at all. To charge the same or more than a whole new chain seems strange.

I guess using 4 inches off my 16" Elsa Peretti chain to make my other Elsa peretti chain 20" for 40 bucks was a good deal. (Keep that in mind ladies)

Also, the people to befriend are the gals working in the customer service department (repair) of the stores. They have been very generous to me....

I've seem plenty or women look great in 16 inch chains...on me they don't look short...the look and feel tight.

Speaking of Open Hearts...

Apparently, my next purchase was the Elsa Peretti Open Hearts necklace in Rose Gold. Because I quite literally just submitted the order! :lolots:

I've been wanting one since the Bridget Jones films first released, but I didn't like silver against my skin tone, so I never bothered.

And since my divorce last year, all of my friends joke that I'm a modern-day Bridget Jones... minus the smoking and excessive drinking (I've never smoked and I gave up drinking when I became pregnant with my son in January of 2010). Like "Bridget"... I'm slightly eccentric and "a little bit fat" with an overbearing mother, a soft-spoken father, insane friends who have bizarre relationships of their own, etc. It's quite funny, really.

Guess this necklace is my ode to being single / Valentine's Day gift from my son before all of the luxury jewelers increase their prices for the new year! In the meantime, I'll keep saving for that DBTY... probably at a higher price point...

Oh, is Tiffany going to increase their prices? I hope not by too much! There may be other things i want to buy eventually....

Diamond pieces have already increased in price here in Australia, not sure when for the other pieces..... I'm guessing soon.... Especially with V- Day coming up :(

I really want the CBTY in aquamarine for my birthday later this month but am having a really hard time convincing myself. My mom wears an aquamarine ring every day and I thought it would be nice to have the same stone to kind of keep her close to my heart for many years to come, not to mention I love aquamarine.

That being said, I got three Tiffany pieces for Christmas. Without boring everyone with the long story, I got the venetian link bracelet and the 10mm bead bracelet as gifts and I bought the 3mm peace sign bead bracelet for myself.

I really want the CBTY aquamarine since it is a milestone birthday but am feeling a bit of Tiffany overload at the moment.

Any advice?
