This thread is so very informative! It helps me a great deal when it comes to thinking about my next purchase. Sometimes those designer bags aren't all that they are cracked up to be, just the same as the cheaper bags. Looks like the majority of the mistakes are weight, color and ease of getting in and out of. So far, I've been lucky in the vast majority of my bag purchases. I learned, however, that ease of entry is the deal breaker for me. No flaps over zippers.....

Same here Compass Rose. In fact, no flaps for me at all. My first 'designer' bag was a Coach Bleecker Large Flap and while I loved the look of the bag I learned that I hate getting in and out of flap bags, so now only bags with a top opening zipper or magnet for me.

Got two MAXX New York bowler bag in cobalt and red, shiny bright things, expensive for what I thought was patent leather and it was coated canvas. They are sitting on my shelf and collecting dust.
MAXX purple ombre tote, looked patent to me as well, but it was once again coated canvas.
Come to think of it, I regret buying any of the MAXX bags now, I got 4 of them that are not leather and deeply regret purchasing them-too shiny, too tacky (to me), too bulky and too inconvinient to use. I have two other MAXX bags and those are real leather-they are keepers.

My 3 biggest regret was when I purchase a Roxbury bag from Ebay 3 months ago and haven't used it. The other regret was when I purchase an Arcadia handbag last month and I returned it because DH didn't like it.

My biggest regret is buying my caviar Chanel classic flap in large w/ghw... 2 yrs ago.
Used max 10 hours. :push:

It used to be my Holy Grail, but the model just isn't for me. I don't like the flap, the boxy feel...nothing. Well, I do love the look of it. That's all.

Hermes Lindy - it just did not fit my lifestyle, and I always felt very awkward carrying it. It isn't your traditional handbag, and I felt like I was holding a small pet carrier or something. Plus each time I thought of the price tag, I died a little inside. :nogood:

The Rebecca Minkoffs I bought- MAB, MAM, Steady- now that I know a lot more about the variety of leather thats out there, the leathers she uses are not really my favorite. And now I don't find anything really original about the designs, and even find the Steady downright strange- I can't really picture any circumstances it would look appropriate for.

I even regret the 2 Kiss and makeup Bags I bought at the sample sale! they're flat and thin with a huge heavy zipper that I was afraid would scratch everything else in my bag so I never used them.

^^aw! I'm sorry RM wasn't for you! I do love her though! I agree about the steady whole heartedly though. What a strange bag...love the morning after though.

anyhoo, bag purchases that I regret. Let's see. I bought a fendi cognac spy that is still my HG bag. I thought, I like this bag so much I'll buy it in the honey color as well! I spent a ridiculous amount on the bag and absolutely hated the color and the leather! Which is bizzar, because I love the cognac spy so much. I ended up selling it for a fraction of what I paid and the bag was new!

I once bought a Jimmy Choo bag...I forgot the name of the style , but Jimmy Choo lovers might recognize it by description....it was a Pumpkin orange color with a sort of flower scalloped shaped design .....I think I carried it twice...I just wasn't in love with it... After keeping it a couple months, I finally sold it for half of what I paid for it....and used the money towards a Chanel flap....I regretted the purchase since I felt the purchased = money wasted ...but I learned a lesson from it....I'm a classic ...leave the funky and trendy stuff alone...it just isn't my style :push:

A sleek black Prada that was an EvilBay impulse purchase ($400) turned out to be a fake, and I thought that when I pressed "buy now" :noggin: but for some silly reason bought it anyway! When it seems to good to be true it is! Lesson learned!
