"What was I thinking?" Bag purchases you regret...

I've never regretted buying a bag because I stop caring about how much I paid for a bag after I've bought it and it's no longer possible for me to return it. This means that instead of thinking 'I spent $xxx on buying this bag', I think 'I own this bag'. There is no decision-making involved in acquiring the bag and hence nothing to regret.

Sorry if this doesn't make sense. Heh.

Bought a white 2009 chloe paraty preloved from a friend. the bag is about 5 years old and after a week of use, the dye is peeling all over the place and the bag looks dirty. the bag is also heavy and doesn't carry a lot. huge huge regret.

Fendi Spy that I bought from Harrods after a girlie lunch with an enabling friend - ugh, even now I feel sick thinking about that particular purchase. There are so many reasons I regret it, starting with the cost of it and going all the way up to the appalling quality, the odd smell of the leather and the fact it was so impractical. Sold it at a huge loss.
The other regret was a 2.55 medium flap Chanel in pale pink lambskin. Too small, the colour was a dirt magnet - big mistake plunking the credit card down for that. Adding to my woes, I sold it at the wrong time and again made a massive loss.
I learned from those mistakes though. Now I make considered decisions regarding bag purchase, not spur-of-the-moment choices. And I don't buy anything I can't afford - I don't have credit cards anymore which really keeps me on track.

Several years ago I went through a fabric bag phase. I didn't want leather bags; I wanted fabric ones. I got a Gucci, LV, and Chanel all in fabric! Now I regret it big time.

I also regret buying a white BV tote that eventually got damaged through color transfer, dirt, and rough use. Not smart. I don't buy white bags or fabric bags anymore. Live and learn.

Anything with heavy hardware... cheap-feeling leather even though it's a designer label... fabric... logo... a bag I didn't need or particularly want but was on super sale at TJ Maxx or on the clearance table at Nordies...

Coach Hippie - I don't like open top bags generally (this does have a magnet at least) and every time I put it down my stuff falls out. I almost lost my phone and/or wallet each of the few times I used it. Just waiting for another bag drive (the building I work in has this once a year, to collect work bags to give to people trying to get off welfare). I'm sure someone will be thrilled to receive an almost new leather Coach!

Years ago I had a (cheap) leopard print fake pony skin pouch style bag - that was a real "what was I thinking?" choice. I felt silly taking it to work and when I used it on weekends my husband called it my "Wilma Flintstone" bag!
