"What was I thinking?" Bag purchases you regret...

I bought a Michael Michael Kors bag the first year that he introduced the diffusion line. Even though the bag was smaller than what I normally carry, it was something new and everyone loved it. I proudly carried it during the winter months. When I went to pull it out the next year, I discovered the gold finish on the hardware had rubbed off and the pewter metallic color on the brown leather had faded. At less than $300, it wasn't a huge investment but a disappointment all the same.

Three of mine immediately come to mind. I've never sold a bag so there's still hope for revival ;)

1. Bottega Veneta as pictured - difficult to carry, difficult to use. Right now I store documents in it, but I like the 'tattoo' look so I'm going bring it out of semi-retirement soon.
2. Fendi Spy in chocolate - just not me.
3. Thomas Wylde black Settler bag - awkward. It might be a better bag for guys :thinkin:

oops 4. Mulberry bag in Olive Darwin leather - gorgeous style (the name of it slips my mind - probably the Elgin?) but the colour is all wrong for me

I almost regret it when I buy a bag online that I haven't seen IRL.

A thousand times this! I went through so much trouble finding a good messenger bag for my school stuff. I cannot buy something I store my life in without GOOD detail pictures, or better yet, being able to look at it and feel how padded it is.

While this isn't really a regret, I have a bad habit of jamming anything and everything in my Longchamp tote. If there's still room, then I must have forgotten something!:noggin:
Someday I'll learn!

I LOVE large bags, but I had two biggest disappointments : Miu Miu slouchy gray huge and no shape, and Ugg chesnut also huge no shape hobo .....Miu Miu went to someone who likes it, Ugg returned

TBH, I kind of regret my vintage black lambskin Chanel flap. Now before you think I'm crazy... :D

It's a lovely bag. I really, really like it. But so far I've only used it once. It's too small for everyday use (I'm a big bag girl), but if I'm going somewhere that requires a more formal bag, I tend to take one of my wristlets. So it doesn't really "fit" in my collection, KWIM?

Also despise clutches. So hard to stand with it under your arm with a drink and a plate or cigarette. Yes, I plan on quitting again. Soon. I think I have about 8 clutches.

ITA. I refuse to buy any clutch that isn't a wristlet. I've only made two exceptions: the Dooney & Bourke Hayden clutch in ivory/gold (yep, the one with the lion head on the front. It's so delightfully tacky, and I'm a Leo :D) and a Hayden-Harnett Ipanema clutch in Oyster/Vintage Gold (which can be worn folded over as a clutch, or folded out with a handle).

Not that I've actually used either of those exceptions, mind you...:roflmfao: I will, though! They don't fall into my regrets category, yet. :D

A white Prada satchel. I love this bag but I'm too scared to pick it up in case I dirty the handles, and too scared to put it down in case I dirty the bottom! It lives in a plastic bag most of the time. I have its twin in black, which gets thrown around and taken everywhere...

My Hayden Harnett Havana Hobo in Gray....the gray leather has no sheen to it and the shape of it looks like fatty skin flaps. It just doesn't look attractive. It kind of reminds me of a gray jabba the hut.

:roflmfao:

I love my Havana (Saddle) to bits, but I can see that. Hysterical.

I have quite a few HH bags and small leather goods, and I like most of them a lot -- so much so that I bought a second Cordovan Conrad during the sales last year to give to my mother for Christmas -- but the Bowery wristlet wasn't a great purchase. It's very cute, but it's HEAVY (the studs, I guess), a complete pain to get in and out of, and holds very little. It's never the first clutch I reach for. I have to remind myself to use it occasionally.

i regret the alexander wang coco duffle in grey. it's cute and edgy, but i got caught up in the hype of it all, and really wish i hadn't spent $900 on this thing.

The Gucci Irina flap in sand suede. I lusted and obsessed over this bag. I could never see it in person just the leather Irina totes. The online photos always focused on the flap and the gorgeous details. I bought it, and I am so disappointed. The bag is huuuge and oddly shaped. The shoulder strap is too short, and I'm certain I'll have to sell it for a loss. So she sits in my closet smirking while I curse the day I was seduced into buying a 1.5K suede bag!
Lesson learned~

Hey, I only found this thread now but I wanted to say that I totally fell in love with the sand suede Gucci Irina flap too (online as I never saw it irl). Oh, I can totally understand why you bought it :D
