I don't think I've posted here before. Anyway, I love reading this thread because it's helpful to see what everyone has gone through so others considering the said bags can gain a wide perspective. It seems that the most common regrets on bags are: weight, color, size, and impulse purchases. Gosh darn those evil sales!
All my life I've never owned many bags but I made one impulse purchase back in college. I was obsessed with getting a Chloe paddington. I just had to have it. While the bag was made of thick, superb leather, the lock was ridiculously heavy, quickly causing me to lose interest in carrying it. I was very, very lucky in getting my money back though. But my biggest dealbreaker on bags is weight.
Nowadays, if I want a bag, I'll wait it out for a year or two and then see if I'm still interested in it. It's a good rule to go by because it cancels out impulse buys, trend/"it" bag regrets, sales/discount temptations, and unnecessary credit card debt.
