Hi hi, have not been here for a while! Been working this bag all week. Vintage Coach , Plaza bag (large). I was thrilled to get it off eBay, I believe it was just under $50 shipped. It was a bit faded and was able to touch it up with a leather colorant to a great result. I was in love with the Willow fob when I found it in brass.View attachment 4234793
Your vintage Coach is gorgeous!
The difference between Coach's vintage leather and today's leather is remarkable. And frustrating because it's no longer available. In the not-to-distant-past, Coach had a line that was supposed to replicate their vintage lines but the leather they used was much thinner.

Ty! There just doesn’t seem to be any leather (for me at least) like that original vintage heavier unlined leather. I did find a bag that was made about 10 years ago, lined that was made for factory outlets that had leather that was surprisingly comparable . And I have to give credit, they have some incredibly soft leathers in their higher end full retail line. I actually have been in a local store several times over the last year. And they have a few bags with these leather sequins . . .
But I am an upcycler at heart and my passion is refurbishing these bags from 20 and 30 years ago. Most of my vintage Coach was purchased for $35 or less. My top purchase was $80.
It is a shame they didn’t keep a few styles available in the original unlined leather.

All mine are free because my mom gave them to me lol.

I love vintage Coach. Very classic, understated. Most had decent organization. I have a few pieces left .. I've owned for 15 years? (Some pre-2000 pieces had found their way to a factory store and I bought them in 2002-2003). Perhaps if they see a need, they might resurrect some of the classics again. Everything is cyclical.
From your mouth to Coach's ears. They bring back styles, but not in the original inlined leather. The current retread style is the Trail bag in the Selena Gomez line. Last year they brought back the Courier briefly. I was in a retail store yesterday and Googled a pic of the vintage Trail bag for the 20 - something associates!

On a little R&R weekend. One of my favorite refurbished bags, lol freshly scraped from carrying my beach chair. I'll give it a little TLC when I get home.
Early 80's vintage Coach City bag, made in NYC. One of my favorite rescues. It was quite dry, very scratched, with random stains. After cleaning and deep conditioning , it came up with a (perfect for me) distressed patina.
