You wear the ring so beautifully! The pictures are so clear as well. It is still a gorgeous piece. When I tried the ring on swiveled out, I wore it upside down (compared to your picture). I think it looks much better the way you wear it. The leaves seem to curve harmoniously towards the flower. What do you think of the way they ended the stem? Does it feel unfinished to you when the ring is opened outwards?

I am fine with how the stem ends. I remember when I saw pictures of the new design, I had the same feeling that the new design feels a little unfinished compared to the old design. But it was more because of the way the leaves toward the flower, less because of the way the stem ends. But when I put it on yesterday, I did not feel unfinished at all. That said, I have never tried on the old design myself and it could be just that I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the ring overall so paid less attention to the details.

So I think the truth is, the new design is less pretty than the old design. However, it is still a gorgeous ring that can wow tons of people. And for people who do not know about the old design, it won't be a problem at all to them. (My DH saw the ring the first time yesterday and he was also intrigued and thought it was the best in VcA! However we probably will not get it this year because of certain reason...).

In terms of your decision... I personally I don't buy watch as jewelry (I wear Rolex or Breguet without diamonds) so I would never consider the watch. But I admit that after seeing your picture of the van cleef watch I can understand why you compare the watch with the ring. Now I actually think they can serve the same purpose and probably same cost per wear. So I think you need to ask yourself if you think the watch itself is "perfect" and the ring is less so. Because you might focus on the imperfection of the ring every time you look at it, and that's not good feeling and you should def get the watch. If not, then I'm stil for the ring! :)

Since you like Bow/Ribbon designs make sure you check out the Chaumet Insolence Collection and the newly launched Liens Seduction Collection.

Wow, this is beautiful! Have you seen any of the pieces in person, and can you comment on the overall quality and construction? I especially like the Liens Seduction bow bracelet you mentioned.

Sorry this is off-topic, but we don't have Chaumet where I live and I couldn't seem to PM you, Alena.

The image of jar jar binks keep coming to mind after BBC's post . But I agree, I prefer the older design in this regard. The raised centre is also something I'm not sure about. Looks like I'm now inching towards the watch.

Sorry! I have a weird sense of humor. I was going to say "Alien eyes" and could have also gone with a frog, but this was the wackiest mental image I could come up with....same as Flava Flav. I do not mean to ruin anyone's enjoyment of these pieces! I in fact DO have a magic necklace on my list now, so my eye has adjusted. The ring is still gorgeous, I just don't think they should have redesigned that part of the piece....I mean, did it really save VCA that much for more metal showing?

Today I went to the store and tried on the lotus ring for fun. I think I can get over the lack of bamboo details and the less curly leaves, but the thicker metal around the five small diamonds still bothers me a little. That said, it really is such a beautiful ring...

This is the photo I took today, in case it can help as one more reference. (Pls ignore my messy nails :p)

Looks gorgeous on you!

Yes, I saw the whole Insolence collection when I went to the launch of the new Liens Seduction collection. It is of superb quality and the ribbon is flowing like it is made of textile while in fact it is made of gold and diamonds. Very impressive indeed.
I tried the rings and the bracelets of the new Liens Seduction Collection plus a sapphire ring of the Josephine collection. There were too many pple so IScreenshot_20170910-221802.jpg Screenshot_20170910-221740.jpg could not try as many pieces as I wanted.

Check out this Boucheron btf ring from the new Ivy high jewelry collection too.
I'm a bit apprehensive about the new VCA lotus design. I like it but don't LOVE it. View attachment 3820361
Hmm... the ivy ring looks interesting with the motifs spreading around the fingers but somehow I don't like the idea of ivy. For some reason I much prefer flowers, butterflies and ribbons! Thanks for sharing though!

Haha, you crack me up BBC. No harm done at all. A little light humour does everyone good. I don't really understand why they added more metal as well. The beauty of VCA's pieces has always been intricate craftsmanship where less metal is needed to let the stones shine, e.g. mystery setting. Whilst these are not couture pieces that require mystery settings, such a move is a little disappointing as it signals to me the direction of the company (especially with the recent introductions and changes to other classic pieces).

Oops so sorry I realized I typed sooo much... sorry for going non-stop. Was just trying to help!

Thanks for the detailed reply. I really appreciate you taking the time to do so. When I put the new version on, I must say it was still breathtaking. For the brief moment I had the ring on all I could do was admire the beauty of the ring. It is still very beautiful, even though it doesn't photograph as well as the old version from the loss of detail. My DH was the same when he saw me try on the ring. He thought it looked awesome. That's why now I feel more stuck than ever.

No harm done! Thanks for sharing!

I think I will head back to the boutique in the next week or two and try the pieces on again. Armed with all your input hopefully I will be able to decide and not be hopelessly blinded by all the beautiful creations. Thanks everyone!!

Just wanted to share my dream Noeud bracelet (more like trying to distract myself from going back and forth between Alhambra watch and lotus ring). I don't remember the source of the pictures apart from the first, which is from VCA. I apologize if the quality of the pics are lacking. The bracelet is a very fluid piece. I love VCA's couture inspired pieces, like their zip necklace. So fluid and ingenious. These creations are what makes VCA truly special.IMG_1551.JPGIMG_2500.JPGIMG_1557.JPG

Thanks for sharing Alena! I'll be in Paris in 2 weeks so will try to check out the pieces myself.
*threadjack over!*

In my experience it is easier to wear more often the same watch than the same jewelry. It is more forgiving and not as boring.

Yes, that was how I felt too. The watch seemed more wearable. I know it's not an investment watch. It's just a very pretty dress watch that works on quartz movement. But the minute I put it on, it's so hard to let go. My husband was originally against the watch and preferred I got jewelry, but when he saw it on me, he preferred the watch. Much more wearable. As I type, I'm closer and closer to deciding on the watch. Will report back when I get a chance to go back to the boutique!
