Recently, for work, it's just been either my Lamy Vista ballpoint pen or mechanical pencil, or Faber-Castell Loom ballpoint. Can't really use my fountain pens at work since it's super cheap copy paper and the ink feathers something awful. But when out and about, I sometimes carry one of my little fp-friendly notebooks and one of these fountain pens on the bottom row of my pen case:

I've owned many types of fountain pens, ranging from Franklin-Christoph to Visconti to Pelikan and Lamy is my absolute favorite. Tons of colors choices and perfect grip.

I have a gel pen called Dong-A (from Philippines) always inside my bag. I would never replace it to expensive fountain pens. This pen has been with me ever since I was 13 years old! Whenever we go for holidays in my hometown, I make sure to buy boxes of it in red, blue, black as we do not have it here in HK!

i make sure though that I put it inside my makeup bag as I am very much afraid of staining the interior of my bags..

The skittles safari rainbow:nuts:

The matte finish of the ABS plastic is so durable. You really can’t fault them (many nib options, they always start right up without skipping, durable, many colour options)

I know, I love the plastic!!! It's so lightweight, too, so comfy to write with. I used to think the Safari was the ugliest pen design I'd ever seen, but after I bought one just to try, since they were so cheap compared to other fps, I fell in love with it immediately. I did have more, but decided to sell some because I wasn't using them as much as my favorites, which are here in this pen case. Now my little collection is perfectly curated. :)

The safari was my pre-university pen with an XF nib and I absolutely loved how I didn’t have to worry about it. During my undergrad I was pretty OCD since I was mostly using my sterling Montblanc and Sailor king of pen. There’s something nice about not having to worry about a pen!

I wish I had discovered fps while still in school, I feel like that would have made it more enjoyable lol. Good point about not worrying about the pen--that was the reason I sold my Sailor Pro Gear. I liked the pen well enough, but I was worried about using it because I was afraid of scratching the finish or somehow damaging that gorgeous nib. I figured it wasn't worth having it if I wasn't using it. It went to somebody who would love it better than me. I haven't made the leap to Montblanc (my dream Montblanc would be the Meisterstuck Classique in ultra black, but I believe that pen is discontinued) but figure it would be worse than my Sailor and I might not even ink it up for fear of ruining it somehow!

I have an ivory progear and ink in the cap can easily stain the section if not readily washed off.

Sailor actually have a matte black progear that is way less scary to handle/maintain. I’m just sad that I haven’t been able to use my pens in quite a few years because most of the work I do is with carbon paper.

To be honest as a pen the Sailors outperform my Montblanc any day of the week. The issue is my MB has mother of pearl and diamonds so it feels a bit like a piece of jewelry more than a pen.

Before I bought my Pro Gear, I strongly considered purchasing the imperial black, but ultimately went with the black/rhodium Pro Gear because I was worried the black nib would begin to chip. I'd read reviews on black nibs chipping after a while and didn't want that happening with such an expensive pen. The nib on my Sailor was alright... I got a broad nib but it wrote more like their zoom, which I didn't care for. It was still smooth, though, just a very tiny sweet spot. But I can definitely see Sailor writing better than MB overall. Definitely have heard about more problems with MB's nibs than Sailor's, and I feel like a lot of people view MB as more of a status pen simply because of the price and MB's luxury feel. I know there's somewhat of a divide in the fp community, those who love MB and those who like bringing up the truth of MB's "precious resin" lolol.
