What is your reply when someone asks you if your bag is real?

I have had men I know ask me b/c their wife has wanted one or comment on mine b/c they just bought LV for their wife - They appear a little scared when they see my two sitting behind my desk in my office
Awww that makes me sad. People are very judgey these days though. I had someone say something really odd to me, and I was kind of shocked. I’ve never been one to splurge on expensive handbags until the last year, but I’ve always been into expensive shoes. LOL.
But man, since 2020. It’s been a bit wild. I limit where I go.

I have a male (straight) friend who comments on my bags. but a stranger is different, esp if they seem sketchy in any way
I tell everyone that my bags are fake, that I got them in Chinatown for $200.
For a city of its size and population the crime rate is relatively low - lower than most cities in the US. I’m more concerned about being accosted by someone mentally unwell on the subway out to the burbs right now than I am that someone will try and steal my bag from me out at the mall or at Metro.
But everyone has to weigh their own risk and decide for themselves.
Personally, it depends on where I am at the moment. A public place like a mall, I'll say "of course not" to lessen the chance of theft/getting mugged. In a more formal situation, classy people will never ever ask.
lately i’ve been dailying my mono alma bb and while there’s been a passing comment here and there about “your bag” nobody has directly discussed it with me or asked me about it. but since this has been brought up i’d probably claim it’s fake.
I’ve been carrying LV since 1995 and seriously no one ever noticed or cared. And I seldom saw them in the wild. Now they are everywhere. An LV is a standard mall purse. Easily 1/4 bags is an LV where I am. So people don’t ask or bother or make a fuss about it. The proliferation of LV on social media during the pandemic is to blame. Lol.
