What is your reply when someone asks you if your bag is real?

In your situation I would have said no and carried on walking to a busy section of the store.
If the question had been asked at work or with friends I would say it is real.
My hairdresser asks and I say yes and then she finds a super safe place for me to put my bag and scarf.

I was asked this question once on a first date. As I was about to leave guy pointed at my bag and asked if it was real, I sort of freaked out and replied: yes, why do you ask? He looked confused and said something about many people carrying fakes. It was the last date. In your situation I would had ignored the question.

When people I don’t know ask, I answer it’s fake.

Reminded me of a school drop-off day back when my son was in kinder. I usually carry my Gucci men’s flat crossbody cause I thought it is understated and can be mistaken for a Guess (I think, yeah right!). My son’s kinder teacher commented, your bag is so nice I have never seen a fake looks so nice even when I went to Thailand I was not able to find a really good fake … I answered, Oh yeah it looks almost real right?

It depends on the situation. I like the answer "I wish" (like someone mentioned before) when it comes to strangers in a situation in where I don't want them to know.
Every other situation without any safety aspect, I'd mostly go for "why do you ask?"
But there was this teenager girl in a shop, and she was very excited raving about my bag and added she would like to have one, too. We also talked about the many fakes. In this conversation, I would just answer the truth, of course.
I'm more confronted with the question "how much does it cost?" from people I know, and that is something I totally hate.

I was telling my husband about this thread and asking him what he thought and he came up with a great answer! He said we should say "No way, not on my police officer salary!" Really made me laugh.

I can't remember if I have ever had anyone ask if my bags were real. I do like the "I wish" reply for strangers.

When my dh was still working, a woman vendor came into his work place and after all the business stuff was finished he said "Oh, you have a LV!" He said she looked surprised he knew her bag was an LV. He told her his wife likes LV, too. lol.

These days I rarely carry my nicer handbags if I am out alone. If dh is with me, sure, but alone, no. The times are a little different right now, so I am more careful.

I'm not going to say my bags are fake no matter who is rude enough to ask. It goes against my being an authenticator and against how much of my hard earned money goes into my collection.

That said, it would depend on the mood I was in at the time. The usual reply? "No, it's invisible"
