"Is it [your bag] real"?
If it's a perfect stranger : I simply ignore or pretend not to hear. If they insist, I retort, "what do YOU think" ?? (followed by an eyeroll) :blah:

If it's someone I know : My reply is, "Real????....REAL EXPENSIVE "!!!! :giggle::biggrin:

I'm old enough that people don't ask me . I do remember once when I was younger, a woman approached me as I got off an escalator and actually touched my bag to feel the texture. She made some comment about it being "interesting". I later found out she was the new assistant manager at my local LV !!!! Some people have such nerve. I figured she had no clue what a vintage was. Months later when the Murakami Speedy was released, she was sickeningly sweet when I went to to get my MC Speedy and Alma I had waitlisted for. She didn't recognize me, but I remembered her from that incident. Still astounds me to this day....
Omg no way!! I would be so upset if someone touched my bag without my permission ! I have no idea where your hands have been!

I've seen someone post before and say "Looks real doesn't it?"

I honestly would say I'm not sure, it was a gift - I hope so! or ignore them. Not to be rude, but you never know people these days. I'm super vigilant of my surroundings since I take the subway and commute by train to the city. If I'm by myself shopping, I try to minimize my visible designer items like jewelry and handbags or always wear it crossbody if I can.

People who do know me, friends, family, coworkers know it's real and wouldn't ask me. They might ask me how much it is and I'll tell them.

I've never been asked if my LV's are real or not. I honestly think I'd just say yes, it is. I live in a college town, so the crime is really low here, so I don't think I'd lie and say it was a fake. But, I also think I'd be more aware of my surroundings say if I was in Denver and it was at night. Then I'd probably just walk away and ignore the question.

Nobody ever asked me this. What next would they ask? Are your boobs real? Is your butt real? Is your hair real?
It’s not anybody’s business and if they ask they have no manners.
So I would just ignore it.
Well…. - To be honest I have been asked two of those questions! The hair question was just a couple months ago

I don’t hang with questionable characters but I do travel a LOT & every time, I think I have seen/heard it all, another whopper comes at me!

Recently at an airport 2 men were talking in hearing range and said “She Is Carrying More LV Than What I Paid For My First Car”

I’ve only ever had someone ask that once. I was at the Ortho with my daughter getting her consultation for braces and the lady flat out asked me if my bag was a fake. I was kinda shocked but said "I ordered if off the LV site so I hope not" and laughed it off. Even my daughter said that was weird when we got out of the office.

OMG. My husband and I were talking the other day and my first LV bag we bought in Paris DID cost more then my first car.

I was actually somewhere recently with my LV and this lady started talking about how much it cost, etc, and I just gently steered the conversation elsewhere.

So, I was heading into a store carrying my speedy, when a male entering behind me (who to me, seemed to me like someone who wouldn’t be familiar with designer items, although you probably can’t judge a book by its cover!) and he says “woah, nice purse”, I say thank you, and then he asks “is it real?” I’ve never experienced that before, so being off guard I say yes. I felt super uncomfortable, he followed me to the same area but left before me. He was standing outside when I left. Nothing happened, but I am now wondering if I could have potentially been in a dangerous situation?! I realize, I probably should have scoffed and said something like “no” or “ I wish.” Have you ever experienced this, or what would you do?
I have had the same thing happen to me. Not only with my handbags, but people also do this when they see my jewelry. My reply is always the same when someone asks me if something I am wearing is real. I look at them and say, It's really mine. beebeebaggs

I don't know this is such a surreal situation. I suppose I would just shake my head, keep walking and ignore the person (yes I am a rude introvert ). I have only been asked once by a co-worker if my Speedy was real, and then I said yes. And she replied she asks because she has an LV shawl which she bought at a beach in Mallorca . That made me lol.

I get it Lady Sparkle!

I have been 100% LV gal since my teens & there has been a definite shift in either peoples awareness, boldness Or both!

I do take into consideration the increase in the prices. Eg; Bought Neverfull GM in 2012 for $963 (just looked at my online account history) & today exact same costs $2,100.00

ALL these years & so few comments or questions - Then BOOM it all changed. Sadly, in just the last couple months, I am dressing down when I go to new places as a service patron.

I don’t know if anyone else is experiencing this or not, but I also feel a sense of judging going on when entering with an LV. - Makes me sad b/c I have not changed.
