I agree, it is a very neutral bag but I've decided I'm going to wear it for work so it's not like I'm going to use it for casual shopping :) I like your idea of the bag charms though, I'll look into it :)

I don't know what social media was like during your school years, but fashion blogging/instagram has really only become super popular in the last few years. So if you were like me and went to college before fashion blogging/instagram, you might not have been able to see fashion like we do today. You had to look in magazines for fashion-related things. Instagram only started in 2010, and fashion blogs started to become more popular around 2006. Young women with the money did carry Chanel prior to Instagram. Chanel has ALWAYS been a status symbol for those in the fashion industry. They are just more visible now with Instagram, etc so you see people carrying them more, but people (young and old alike) always carried them. Like I said there probably has been an uptick in interest in them that has totally been due to social media, but when I was I was in college well before social media took off, my friends and I all knew what a Chanel bag looked like and all dreamed of owning one in the future. All you had to do to see a Chanel bag was look in a high fashion magazine back in the day:smile1:

And if anything revitalized Chanel, it was the addition of the boy bag. Some younger girls feel the classic flap is too 'old' for them, and the boy bag was the answer to that. I see more boy bags then classic flaps on younger women these days.

I bought my Delvaux limited edition Dark Night Tempete tonight and already love this bag to pieces :loveeyes: It's very versatile and chic!:smile1: Here's my Dark Night at night against the light!:p
