What is your go to bag during these crazy times?

I wouldn’t say that I have a ONE to go bag as I am for using a variety of bags confinement or not, plus we’re out of lockdown here, so kind of back to (the new) normal. Nevertheless, things that I have noticed have become different in terms of bag carrying: the amount of absolute essentials has increased as these now include a mask (I usually carry two) and a hand sanitizer. So certain of my very small bags (a Chanel woc, some pouches) have become less useful. I am also more preocuppied about easy reach of my credit card and not touching too much of my stuff when shopping. So I am leaning towards bags with several compartments separating stuff (not my preference before). Also, we got a dog, so I am carrying much less pouches than before now that my hand is often caught in a leash...

So one bag that I find myself reaching for all the time is the Celine Trio, which is surprising because it was never a favorite and I only carried it occasionally before. But I like that I can carry the masks in one compartment, and Calvi with cards in another without mixing up, it kind of feels a very “clean” arrangement with the separate pockets. Plus of course it is very light and confortable when walking the dog. I am even considering buying another Trio as mine is a special tri-color edition, plus belonged to muy mum’s and has sentimental value, so don’t want to wear it down!

Is anyone carrying their bags when they go out now? Since I started working from home full time, I have not used a purse. I grab my wallet, phone, and keys when I leave the house. But I hate stuffing things in my pockets, and the sight of my spring/summer bags languishing on the shelves is very sad. Bags were an integral part of my life and I want my life back.

I am not sure I understand. If you hate stuffing things in your pockets and you long to carry your bags, why don’t you?

My lightweight, nylon Marc Jacobs totes have been my go-to bags... the trips I’ve been making have mainly been just to the post office to drop off Etsy orders, and to Trader Joe‘s for groceries. Other than that, I don’t carry a bag; I just attach my hand sanitizer to my keys when I step out into the courtyard for some fresh air.

I’m not carrying any of my bags... if I go out I either carry a mini puma backpack, or a see through crossbody PVC bag. I can put my phone in outer pocket and since it’s clear I can still use the touch screen when the phone is in the zippered pocket without having to touch my phone. Any apps/reward cards etc I need to use I can usually use with my Apple Watch so together I really hardly ever have to touch my phone. Now if only I could load my CC on my watch to use when paying...

New clusters are cropping up everywhere, I am sick of waiting to carry my bags. Let’s face it, this is the new normal so my bags are coming out of quarantine because I can’t see how I can keep my bags closeted till end of 2020 or even beyond. I will designate a shaded spot on my thankfully large-and-rainproof balcony to keep my bag of the day aired out till it gets put back in the closet. I foresee a lot of twillies will be used and washed regularly on any bag that can be twillied.

I am going to start using my bags again as I don’t see an end to this new world situation in the immediate future. Up to now I have been using an LV Damier Pouchette as a crossbody but miss using my bags so much. In fact I am thinking of ordering a new bag to cheer myself up, and I intend to use it.

I agree with using the bags. This virus isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. My worry used to be germs (I am over that now cause I will just rotate my bags) but after seeing what sanitizer did to the canvas of an LV I am more hesitant than ever to use my bags cause I use soooo much sanitizer now.

Sorry about your LV canvas, hope it’s not too obvious. I’m also a germaphobe so keeping my hands clean and avoiding as much as I can surfaces like buttons, handrails and door handles isn’t something new to me.
I will just have to be careful when using sanitizer, letting my hands dry fully before touching my bags.

Agree! I’ve started wearing my bags again, but tend to gravitate towards a goyard St. Louis or an H evelyne pm. I put my cc in a pocket and I wear washable breathable atoms brand mask and wicking, touch pad safe Gannett uv gloves. the bag doesn’t leave my shoulder or lap and no one else gets near it.

Hi! Thankfully it wasn’t my bag that sanitizer spilled on, it was someone’s post on the LV forum that I was referring to- but I had no idea sanitizer would destroy canvas that way- my concern was always germs. I was always a sanitizer user but now with covid spreading I sanitize multiple times a day, for every trip I make that day. Just recently I spilled some sanitizer on my cheapie purse and I just brushed it off and went on my way but I remember breathing a sigh of relief it wasn’t my LV.
