What do you think are the basic essential pieces every woman should have?

The only thing I think of as an "essential" is a wrist watch. I mean, every needs a watch.

But for classic pieces - a stud (diamond or pearl), a simple gold chain necklace and pearl strand necklace.

I agree, every girl needs a stud, lol

:roflmfao: But not the screw back...I'm a post girl :p

Very interesting thread. I've managed with out diamond studs and opt for pearl studs instead or chunky plain yg earrings. For me an essential is a 16" 7.5-8mm pearl necklace, I prefer saltwater but to each her own. I wear pearls almost daily so that would be my #1 must have. Here's my bare bones list:

16" strand pearls 7.5-8 mm
pearl earrings post 7.5-8mm
tahitian pearl necklace nice size with pave
tahitian stud earrings 8-9mm posts
chunky yellow gold earrings posts
two-tone designer watch, Cartier is my favorite
tennis bracelet

extra for more variety...
opera length pearls 9mm
double strand pearl bracelet 6.5-7mm
chunky yg choker or statement necklace with a large stone precious or semi
all SS watch for when you don't want the two-tone look
oversize semi-precious earrings emerald cut 8cttw with coordinating bracelet
blingy cocktail ring for the right hand
chunky yellow gold bracelet
super long pearls that you knot or double strand 6.5mm
pearl vintage brooch

I agree 100%, it gives me comfort to wear something that was given to me from a relative. The 16" pearl strand that I wear quite often, was the first present given to my mother by my father after they were married, it's 47 yrs. old. And the pieces picked out by my husband are more special than ones I picked out myself. Other special pieces were those inherited from one grandmother or pieces that belonged to my other grandmother who wanted me to wear it now. My tennis bracelet was a present from my parents when I was 19 and my pearl earrings were a gift from them for a 16th birthday, so many pieces are quite sentimental.

This thread is so interesting!
I agree that everyone needs a stud. :graucho:
I actually never wear a watch, though.
I always wear at least one ring on each hand.
After years of having no interest in them, I suddenly must have a string of pearls.
I have a ton of necklaces that I rarely wear, but they are great for when I want to dress up.
I agree that almost all my jewelry has to have some sort of "special meaning."

In general:
-set of pearls (studs, strand, and bracelet)
-set of diamonds (studs & pendant)
-fun going out jewelry

for me:
-my diamond studs
-diamond horseshoe pendant/ DBTY pendant
-amethyst station bracelet
-love knot ring

My list:
Diamon stud earrings
Classic watch (I have a Tag and Chanel J12)

I also recently decided that I NEED to have a Cartier love bracelet.... What do you all think: is it an essential piece?

In general:
- diamond studs
- a love bracelet
- at least one gold with diamond ring

For me:
- OEC diamond studs
- OEC solitaire ring
- wedding ring
- 3 pearl strands: tahiti, baroque and South Sea
- staple rings that are a symbol for my family
- lots of gorgeous rings!!!!

An everyday necklace, a statement necklace, diamond studs, a solid bracelet in any metal (RG, YG, WG, SS), a solid ring in any metal. Just my thoughts! xMMx

You love your pearls for sure!! I do too. : smile:

Yes, there's something about pearls and how they reflect light on the skin, almost adding a glow. The only strand I seem to neglect is a graduated strand with a removable pave pearl dangle. Length wise it would be considered a choker on most but on me it is just a touch longer than a choker. I inherited it from one of my grandma's so it's sentimental and really treasured even if I don't wear it so often.

Everyday :
- A nice watch
- A simple and elegant necklace.
- A nice ring
- Earrings (studs)

For a night out:
- A nice watch with diamonds
- A statement ring
- Earring (studs are ok for me too)
