What do you guys think about a C de Cartier necklace? Is it worth the money for a 0.25 carat diamond?

Oh and just to add, i am not sure why the diamond on my 1895 sparkles more than the one on my CD cartier.. other than the carat being slightly bigger (+0.04), the other specs like color polish, symmetry are lower than the one on CD cartier.. i thought WG would make the diamond sparkle brighter so i am quite confused. Perhaps then, its the setting of the 1895, allow more light in cos less metal around?

It could very well be the amount of light. Good to know about the 1895 setting vs the CD. And yellow gold settings tend to make diamonds appear whiter.

Thank u! And yeS u are spot on!

I also love the sparkly yet dainty enough chain that Cartier has. I also love the attention to detail with the 2 jump rings provided and the mini cartier logo at the back.. the necklace looks different when worn at shorter choker length, looks more like DBTy style. TbH, thid 1895 necklace surprises me.. i initially went with the CD cartier because i loved the square diamond look. I thought the 1895 looks slightly boring, and van be more easily replicated.. doesnt really look like Cartier or anything special. But the diamond on this 1895 necklace actually sits very well and doesnt flip around as much as the one on CD cartier.. its a minor thing but i am easily bugged by such stuff.. lol. However, i am still willing to overlook that for the CDC cos i like the unique square look

I had VCA vintage pendants but the chain feels too much for me. Maybe i am just in the dainty phase. While i appreciate the thicker chain in the 5 motif bracelets, i dont like it on necklaces. I know, i am very picky.. these are all through trial and error thru the years and finding out what i like and dislike in my jewelleries.. my pet peeves (oops which i have admittedly, alot!) Actually saves me alot of money on hindsight. Else i would have jumped on the Vca perlee clover bangle ahaha

I am totally with you on pet peeves and pickiness! It’s so helpful to hear about other’s experiences and observation, which also helps reducing spending $ on the wrong thing.
Good to know about the diamond flipping aspect. Is the chain on the 1895 finer than on the CD? I also like the uniqueness of the square setting on the CD, but reading your comments, I will also check out the 1895.

I checked out 1895 at the store as well but went back with the CD Cartier...

I then decided to just order the 1895 and it is after a day of wearing it that I found i quite like it too.. for different reasons compared with the C d cartier.. they look different enough for me to have 1 each  ♡ and i was struggling with the idea if i need to have both esp when their carat weights are so similar. The consolation is, at least i got them in a different gold color, so they are even more dissimilar in look :)

Really! I had no idea that YG makes diamonds whiter!! I always thought by right, i should go with WG for diamond pieces!? Lol.
Yes, it’s true! Its about the color contrast and the perception. Think of white or beige next to black, vs next to a pale color like grey. White (or nearly white), will seem whiter next to a dark color that provides contrast when placed next to it.
The color in a diamond that is not colorless or not a great color grade, when set in white gold, will be more apparent. Of course a setting that allows more light to reach the diamond matters as well.

To add, this is not to say one should go with one color gold over another. It’s preference, of course, but different colors of gold do impact how a diamond’s color looks.

I'm intrigued by everyone's feedback on both the 1895 and the CdC solitaire. I have had a Cartier d 'Amour (XL) in YG since January, and while "uncharacteristically dainty" on me vs. what I usually wear, I've found it to be the one thing I rarely take off, as I just don't have to worry about it when I'm out in the garden or whatever, but still want a little sparkle on.

I've always known I'd want another, larger solitaire (for more dressy occasions/not quite daily wear), and I had set my sights on a custom set stone from Whiteflash (as I know that's where I'd get the best bang for my buck). However, the CdC and the 1985 just have a little extra something that's pulling me to actually getting one of those instead. Something about the settings and the chain draws me in. So, I can't decide between the 2. I'd been leaning toward CdC because of the unique setting, but now the concept of the stone flipping is bothering me. Is it really that noticeable? Who has one that's about .75-1ct of either the CdC or the 1895 that can comment on the wearability or post a modeling photo?

This is on my wishlist for the Holidays! I love it and it is the best solitaire pendant imo!
The earrings are also fabulous. I tried on .5 tcw and they looked great.
I think you have to be ok with buying branded diamonds in special settings and not compare what you can buy from a private jeweler.
Of course you are going to get more diamond without the Cartier branding . But I rather have the Cartier setting!

I love the CdC, it is classic and very very unique. I can spot the setting right away. I recently tried on a .33 and it faced up beautifully. It's on my short term wish list . I would do CdC, I think the setting lets the light pass through and the setting makes the stone look larger. It is beautiful .

Thank you! Do you find that it flips when worn or is that more dependent on length of chain? I mean if I wear it short enough, anything would flip.

It does not flip at all, it sits flush. I would lengthen mine , but if you shorten it maybe when you talk it would move around? LOL.
I just love this necklace. Cartier diamonds are beautiful!
I will be in the boutique next week , I will take a pic. I really hope you can try it on, you will love it. I hate small pendants, but this is an exception!

Thank you I'll keep checking for pics. I'm not near a boutique unfortunately so trying to plan my purchases. Also your prior comment about earrings has me thinking I might get the pearl versions of those (or maybe the diamonds, but most likely going for plain studs for that part of the collection).

I Was like you, i considered getting brandless solitaire necklaces so i can get a bigger carat but i realise that i would likely grow out of it in time and when i need to sell, i would probably lose a lot of money or not be able to sell. Compared to my VCA or cartier pieces, quality, setting all assured.. plus the sparkle of the chains and the setting of Cartier stands out to me as something other jewellers cannot replicate to the T

This makes so much sense, it never occured to me at all.. this must be why i love the yellow gold pave pieces more than the white gold.. and i always wonder whats wrong with me.. lol. My engagement ring is yellow gold with the diamond, i found the white gold look too generic. Lol

I preferred my cococrush ring pave in yellow gold too, the white gold one just looks abit boring to me, cos the diamonds dont POP as much. Altho maybe they sparkle that tiny bit more? Hardly noticeable though..
