What do you guys think about a C de Cartier necklace? Is it worth the money for a 0.25 carat diamond?

Thank you guys for all your wonderful responses! When i reflected more on this on why I was set to buy a necklace from Cartier, I think I was attracted to the brand in a vain way like "Oh yes, my necklace is from Cartier..." and loved the elegant travel pouch and the packaging it came in. But you guys are right, when I do think about it properly, I am mostly paying for the brand name (and their packaging) and as @lill_canele said, it would be quite hard for people to notice/see that you have a cartier necklace on.

I went to Goldsmiths today and saw a sparkly quite big diamond solitaire necklace for pretty much nearly the same price as the cartier tiny one so I need to really re-think this. I do want something from Cartier in the near future...

I was looking at the other products from Cartier like the love bracelet (and I know I might get a lot of backlash for saying this but maybe you guys can change my opinion) but the only thing that would hold me back from purchasing the love bracelet would be the meaning behind it and what it symbolises i.e in the ancient times the man would have the key to open the chain around the woman's waist to prevent infidelity and how initially the Cartier love bracelet sort of symbolised that and was meant to be purchased by the man to "lock" it around the woman's wrist using the screwdriver and only he can open it. I know people are buying it for themselves and the above doesn't necessarily ring true now but IMO I just don't like the meaning/symbolism behind it. Being frank, the first thing that pops in my head is "control" from a man to a woman and I do NOT like that at all.

I choose freedom.
I totally get that. I didn't choose it because I can't live with bracelet I cannot take off everyday. Maybe you would consider the JUC, the Clash or even the Ecrou (a "screw you" bracelet, literally, that many don't like, and the only one I have) LOL!

Thank you for starting this thread, @Sophie2021 ! I had been eyeing the C de Cartier necklace along with some other items and succumbed, using the price increase and a milestone birthday as excuses :no::no::facepalm:. I ended up ordering the pieces through my SA and the C de Cartier was the first to arrive (this morning). Here it is! 0.5 ct, D color, VVS2, pink gold setting/chain. For me, it is love!

Beautiful! I just purchased one as well. Prices are going up on solitaire pieces within a week or less. My SA just confirmed. anywhere from 10%-18% depending on the size and clarity of the stone.

It looks amazing. Cartier's chains are also sooo sparkly too. I have the small diamant légers in rose gold as well and I love it.

I am so torn too.. i initially wanted the tiffany diamond by the yard necklace because i like the flat minimal metal design, plus they have platinum version but i want to match with my VCA pieces which are very white WG in color..

However, are there a lot of similar settings out there like the C d cartier? I feel like 1895 necklace, yes, Tiffany DBTY even more yes but not so much C D cartier? At least i have not seen.

Also, does c d cartier solitaire necklace gets lopsided or uncentered at times? And does it still look acceptable?

For a diamond solitaire piece, there are a lot of similar settings, you could probably walk into most local jewelry stores and they have it.
But if you are looking for the exact same setting as Cartier, you either go to Cartier or you go to a jeweler an ask if they can do the same setting.

I have a Tiffany DBTY 0.28c necklace so I have no experience with the cartier version, but I think that as long as the necklace isn't too long (which it usually isn't), it won't have that much space to move around.
My Tiffany diamond settles right between my collarbone and doesn't move much unless I'm changing clothes or showering (or if I have a scarf close to my neck).
In terms of the diamond flipping over to the back by accident, never happens to me. I feel that it's when the diamond gets bigger and becomes more 3D (hence less flat/flush against the skin) that it may have a tendency to move or flip around.
