What Do You Do To Prevent COVID-19 During Shopping?

I wear a disposable medical grade surgical mask and face shield that reaches my chin when I'm outside and I never take them off. We've also mandated everyone at the office to wear both at all times except when it's lunch time. Staff are to not leave their cubicles when having lunch, nor have group lunches.

We take off our clothes in the garage as soon as we get home and switch into clean ones, then hop into the shower. Shoes are also left in the garage to be disinfected. We have different slippers in the house: staircase slippers (garage to the house floor), house slippers, room slippers, and bathroom slippers.

Groceries/Misc Items:
I get them either online, or am there as soon as they open.
We call the butcher to place our order (good for two weeks) and pick it up after work. They bring it out into the car, and I hand them an envelope with the exact amount inside.
Items are wiped down before taken into the house, and boxes/wrappers/plastic are left in the garage.

Dining:
Just take-out/delivery. No dine-ins, even if they have al fresco dining.

Travel:
No traveling, international or domestic. My boyfriend lives in another country and it's been exactly a year since we've been physically together...

Social Life:
No mixing of households for us. We just send care packages to our friends and family.

Stopped going in March 2020. Tried going in around Jul-Aug when cases were down a bit, but was so stressed about people in shop not distancing and not wearing mask property, and unsure about air filtration quality at the shops. So I stopped going since at least September. 97% shopping everything online, only buying fresh veg and fruits from open air vendors.

"Now that it is agreed that the virus transmits through the air, in both large and small droplets, efforts to prevent spread should focus on improving ventilation or installing rigorously tested air purifiers. People must also be reminded to wear masks and maintain a safe distance."

I don’t shop at all. The only time I’ve been in a store has been CVS for a vaccine. We do instacart for food shopping and at times we do takeout. All restaurant employees are wearing gloves and masks here. I’m a teacher and remote this year. I am literally starting to lose my mind-have not seen our son and all I really want to do is hug him and not let go. Ugh.

Canada, Toronto area
I only do grocery shopping, and one trip to Ikea pick up and walk in the park in front of my house.
I only wear a mask for grocery shopping, but every time I return back into the car will use hand sanitizer.
We are still lockdown, everything is closed except grocery stores and Costco.

A few weeks ago I was at the mall and some guy took off his mask to sneeze. He didn't sneeze into his sleeve. Instead he just sprayed it everywhere twice! It was disgusting!
OMG, so disgusting!

I also saw a man and his daughter eating a hotdog at costco toilet paper area, without a mask, I ran away right away.

because of these careless people, the virus spreads

Exactly the same except I don’t trust takeaway/ delivery food and won’t I try to minimise all deliveries only food once a week that’s it

The only place I go shopping is Kroger. Everything else I order online. Shipping costs are a small price to pay compared to probably dying of COVID.

At Kroger, I try to stay six feet away from everybody (not always possible) and of course wear a mask. I also use hand sanitizer as soon as I get back in my car.

I havent physically been in a grocery store since March 2020. Thanks to a scary encounter with 3 white men back in July, I now only leave my house once a month to pick up my medication at my local pharmacy. I can't have them delivered because they're heat sensitive. My dog hasn't been walked since said encounter. I also hose all packages w/ a generous shower of lysol upon delivery.

I am essential worker as well as my husband and even my BIL. So we clean and sanitize everything at work with mask wearing as mandated but if you have to work and be out interacting with public or work near other people every day, you lose the fear of it pretty quickly. I always been obsessed with hand washing and kind of germaphobe so my routine hasn't changed that much.

Honey, walk your dog.
Don’t let two jerks dictate your behavior.
You both need the exercise.
They're stealing the dogs here. It's so bad everyone is now walking theirs at 1 am to avoid unsavory folks. If I'm awake at that witching hour, I might join them. My non dog friends were wondering why that's happening.

And that incident involved 3 guys but it was more hate related than dog napping.

Next week, I'm taking him to a park to celebrate his bday and one of my white friends is accompanying me with her big pitbull so that we're both protected

I've been hearing about this! It's becoming more commonplace, but I don't understand what is motivating this madness? Is this a new form of hate, is it just a means to get ransom money, are the dogs being resold on the market...like what is the purpose of hurting people in this way? I cannot imagine how I'd feel if someone stole my fur balls!:sad::sad:
