What Do You Do To Prevent COVID-19 During Shopping?

I feel sorry for customer service people. I am one and am lucky that I can take leave from my job. Recently at the grocery checkout I saw a man pull his mask down to take a phone call. He was of that generation that thinks they need to actually yell to the person through the phone. Aspirations spewing everywhere. I was thankful I could back 12 feet up. But that poor checker was just stuck there.

I am always amazed at seeing so many people do silly things. Contradicting in many ways. But oh well. Social distancing, Wear a mask!!! & Good hygiene will help us through these crazy times. Stay safe everyone!!!

And recently I was shocked by one situation. In the supermarket, the woman started coughing and took off her mask. I shouted at her «What are you doing ?», and she answered me « I'm uncomfortable coughing in a mask». So what to do with such people?
A few weeks ago I was at the mall and some guy took off his mask to sneeze. He didn't sneeze into his sleeve. Instead he just sprayed it everywhere twice! It was disgusting!

The only thing I buy now is products. Basically, I do what everyone else does, I wear a mask, I keep my distance, I disinfect my hands, I try not to move products if I don't buy them.

Although, I will say that many people do not do this in the store. These people wear a mask under their nose, in line trying to get as close to you as possible. Probably it seems to them that the queue will move faster.

These are the people who irritate me the most.
Rules don't apply to them and they don't give a hoot about the other people around them.
Inconsiderate idiots.

omg - my patience with people is so low right now.

I have been getting nearly everything online or carside pickup. Instacart for groceries. Though the people delivering packages are not wearing masks here both to deliver packages or while driving the truck even if they have a coworker. Restaurant takeout and instacart they have worn masks most of the time.

The few times I have had to go inside I vowed never to go back:

Target: I overheard a woman on the phone tell her friend “oh sorry we stayed at your place the other night we both tested positive.” Based on that I assume she and her toddler were shopping while contagious.

Kohl’s: they encouraged me to move closer to the store employee hacking up a lung. Even though she had a mask - no thanks. She probably should not have even been at work even if it wasn’t covid.

USPS: let whole unmasked family in...no one says a word and this place is not well ventilated.

Walmart: tons of people coming more than 6 feet to me. I basically ran to the store pickup in the back then ran out again.

There has been no in person browsing for me while shopping which I definitely miss, but I would rather give that up that risk exposure to covid. Unfortunately most of the smaller shops are not on Etsy it online where I am. I do find the selection online is very limited compared to what’s in store, so that’s annoying.

The likelihood of one getting covid from a short shopping trip is still probably low, but since we don’t seem to know anything more quantitative, I would rather spare myself the aggravation.

I haven't bought a thing since March except food and that is all bought online and delivered - I won't eat takeaways etc and am amazed my neighbours are happy to have takeaways every night -I order food for 2 weeks to minimise even the amount of delivery men at my house as they don't social distance or wear masks. I have stopped ordering from Amazon as their delivery men are the most insanitary I have ever encountered. I am not having Christmas I just want this year to be over . Maybe I'm old and m certainly not a people person but I really don't understand the whole hospitality culture -why can't we stay and home and cook and eat with our loved ones ????

Don’t touch your face , sanitize everything you touch or sanitize your hands after touching things like lift buttons or handrails, dispose your mask properly, wash your hands (20 seconds) after returning hom, sanitize mobile phone with alcohol wipes and head straight for the shower. My husband is very slack with all this and it drives me mad. Doesn’t help he gets mad at me for “nagging” at him. I was a germaphobe before COVID and my mother used to scold me for being too particular with hygiene so I was somewhat vindicated when this pandemic happened. I remember 5 years ago I told her people like her are responsible for spreading diseases (she was the type who rinsed her fingertips for 2 seconds after visiting a public loo).

That’s a good idea. I know people were doing something similar during the beginning of the pandemic when hand sanitizer was all sold out everywhere. If you get one of those drink dispensers with a spigot it would almost be like running water
i like this idea, can’t congregate with friends and drink loads of sangria , water tank it becomes.

All the stores around me require face coverings. I wear a mask. Sanitize my cart and carry hand sanitizer that I use as I see fit - definitely after loading my car with groceries.

Also wash hands when I get home but I’ve honestly not been as on top of that since I sanitize in the car probably more than I need to.

Socially distance. Wear a mask. I also wear touch sensitive gloves, sometimes under my real gloves. the masks and gloves are washed daily. I sanitize and wash my hands. I don’t touch anything that I don’t intend to buy. I carry a bag, but keep my CC in my cargo pants or use contactless pay. I go at off hours for neighborhood stores (am trying to keep them in business) and order some stuff on line. At luxury retailers, we refuse refreshments.

Just read through the FDA application of the new vaccine and wanted to share this figure. Clearly visible that 1-2 weeks after the first dose there are almost no further infections (blue). Placebo is in red.

No meant to judge on anything but to circumvent interpretations in the media.

We don't go shopping. Everything is delivered. The only times I've been in a store since March were when hubby had food poisoning and I ran into the drugstore to get him things, and a 1-1 appointment at a boutique where I did NOT feel confident.
All the stores will do either delivery or curbside pickup, so no need to go inside.....
