When I worked, I taught middle school then high school. I carried my bags (monogram in my early 20’s Empreinte mid 20’s on) and they garnered a lot of attention from students and teachers alike. Students were in awe and thought it fit me because I’m proper, light skinned, have other designer goods and drive foreign cars (their words, not mine). Then usually other teachers would gossip about how I could afford all those dern bags and new Mercedes. Honestly I was just appalled that women old enough to be my mother or grandmother were that concerned with my finances. Eventually they realized their talking wasn’t going to change what I carried, so they begrudgingly got over it.

Educators can be a catty bunch. One older teacher reported my clothing every week because they were too bright therefore a distraction to the learning environment.

haha very very true! When I was younger I worked in an upper class private school, and those kids/students were the ones carrying the birkins and driving lambos.
So, fortunately, I never stood out.
But yes, the teachers and the administration staff do gossip A LOT!

I'm a fashion designer and funnily enough, I don't see a lot of designer bags in the office. If someone wears it, they get called out for being "wealthy" (so I'm sticking to carrying them out on weekends with friends). You would've thought a fashion designer would be wearing more designer but I guess we don't get paid enough for it.

What's even more hilarious is that our international student interns carry nicer bags than the head designers. :giggle:

I work in IT and wear my longchamp or coccinelle bag to work. However, I like to get a neo alma PM in empreinte but not sure if it’s as subtle as the the epi. I already have an alma bb epi which I wear from time to time. What do you guys think, would an empreinte bag be as subtle as the epi?

I now carry my empreinte pochette metis to work and find it subtle.

I answered on page one, I’m an RN in a school for medically fragile students and yes I wear my bags. I have a Valentino, beautiful brown with canvas strap. One afternoon as I was signing out my principal said she liked my bag, I said thank you. She then saw the Valentino tag and said, “Oh!! I really like your bag!” I just smiled and went on my way. The next time I saw her I told her I have “ a bag issue”. She understood, lol!

Lawyer in a small firm. I carry Louis Vuitton but not Chanel to the office, since I’m on the younger side and don’t want the partners to think they pay me too well

Ha, similar here :D Although I don’t think that would be an issue, as they have already seen my Chanel and Prada at the beginning of my work path here and also on the job interview, lol. I just feel more comfortable carrying large totes (esp. Ralph Lauren) daily now, as I carry a lot of stuff with me :P
