When I worked, I taught middle school then high school. I carried my bags (monogram in my early 20’s Empreinte mid 20’s on) and they garnered a lot of attention from students and teachers alike. Students were in awe and thought it fit me because I’m proper, light skinned, have other designer goods and drive foreign cars (their words, not mine). Then usually other teachers would gossip about how I could afford all those dern bags and new Mercedes. Honestly I was just appalled that women old enough to be my mother or grandmother were that concerned with my finances. Eventually they realized their talking wasn’t going to change what I carried, so they begrudgingly got over it.
Educators can be a catty bunch. One older teacher reported my clothing every week because they were too bright therefore a distraction to the learning environment.
