What do you all think of NAME NECKLACES like the one SJP wore in SATC episodes?

I love name necklaces, even though I will not wear them now anymore. I have a necklace with my name on it, but I haven't worn it in many years. I think the're cute.

I think those are kind of edgy. They are a classic in the sense that they will not go out of style. I don't see them in posh and more classy combinations, but I see them in outfits with an edge.

I love them and hope to get one for myself. I find it stupid when some people carry the necklace and it says "Carrie". I highly doubt Carrie is their name, they just wear it because of SatC. I find it ridiculous.

I agree with you Shea, I think they can be really nice, just depends who and how is wearing them.

I finally got mine done ! in gold ! For some people it´s directly referring to SATC and for others it´s just "funny chav" or "ghetto" w. a twist ! I wear it with casual and trendy clothes....not smart clothes.
BUT my name starts with a C and the hook is placed higher, so the name stands diagonally, is it supposed to be that way ???

I don't have a necklace that spells my name but I do have the Tiffany & Co. alphabet necklace with my first initial in script. I think it's a cute alternative for someone who wants a "personal" type of jewelry, but doesn't want their full name out there.

Totally agree.. I think the name necklace is tacky, but a necklace with an initial pendant is a classy alternative.

I think they are so cool, but I don't have one. If I saw a cheap one with my name I would buy it though. I do have a rhinestone initial pendant, it's fun too.

i have a white gold one with my name and script the then bf did for me it was before sex and the city so i used to wear it but when carries beecame big i became emabressed to wear it. i take it out from time to time thouigh

I have one. My friend gave it to me for my birthday many years ago. I wore it religiously, but not much since.

This thread makes me want to get it out again. Mine is yellow gold and not to big or too small. My name is fairly unique and since I can never find anything personalized with my name, I'm thrilled with it! I can't believe I stopped wearing it.

I'm not sure why it's a big deal if people are copying Carrie from SATC. People copy trends all the time. What's the diff?

My friend's father is a jeweler and made my name necklace for my 16th birthday 10 years ago. I am pretty sure I had it before Carrie - I think her necklace first appeared in season 2 or 3. I really like mine because it is yellow gold with a swoosh of white gold and diamonds underneath. I only wear it a few times a year. I can understand how people may not like them; it is just personal taste.
