What bags do you carry for travelling?

For the most part, I travel with the same handbags I use every day which are 90% designer bags and a few contemporary bags. When I travel, I want to look just as nice as when I'm home so I may pack several bags to wear. And, since I'm not traveling to high crime / terrorist areas 😳, I don't worry about the value or profile of my bag. The "riskiest" areas I travel in are major cities like New York, Las Vegas, Paris, Madrid and I don't consider those "risky" at all. I can't even get the hubster to go to relatively safe Cancun on vacation because he has concerns over kidnapping / drug crime. So, I feel comfortable dressing as I would at home.

That being said, I just bought a vintage black Prada nylon and leather shoulder bag because it's durable, lightweight and not attention getting. I can see carrying this when I'm casual and it's rainy, on airplanes or car trips because I wouldn't care where it landed.

Last note, when I travel on planes for leisure, I carry a back pack through security with my handbag of the day inside. So when I put a bag under the seat it's the backpack, my handbag doesn't have to touch the ground. My other option (business travel) is a roomy vintage Coach leather tote which has seen a million miles & looks the same as the day I bought it. I couldn't care less about that bag being on the floor of the plane. That's the one reason I haven't upgraded it. I don't want to buy a $2500 tote I care about and have to baby.

Depends where I'm going, two years ago we went to England and I carried my LV DE Speedy 25, last year I got a MK Saffiano Jet Set Tote right before we left for a trip to Newfoundland and I thought it would be good for extras like tourism books that wouldn't fit in a smaller purse. It's a great every day purse but I wouldn't take it on a trip again because being leather (and overloaded) it got very heavy after a few hours of carrying it around a museum or whatever. This year we are planning to go to Cape Cod and I'll probably take my Speedy mainly because of the weight issue.

Recently I used my Balenciaga Padlock All Afternoon bag on a quick weekend trip to New York, and while I was shopping around downtown in Toronto. It's great because it's a dark forest green colour, so you don't have to worry too much about getting it dirty. Also, it has a strap long enough to wear as a cross-body. Because of that, it was a good purse to wear when doing that sort of stuff, although it is a little on the heavier side without much in it. :smile1:

We just took a short vacation and went to Stockholm. I carried my spare cardigan, water bottle, lunch, scarf etc in my Samsonite backpack and along with it I had my small necessities in a Coccinelle messenger. It's durable, lightweight and fits a large travel wallet, sunnies, box of candy and tissues.
The backpack I've had for over 10 yrs and it's a thief proof model which is better for travel. The Coccinelle is new and has proven to be a sturdy little bag, asvwell as stylish and pretty.

Like many here, I also prefer to use cross-body bags that also have shorter handles to wear on the shoulders.

I've used the Tod's G bag during a Mediterranean cruise before and although the top of the bag is open (I chose this because I was travelling with my 2 year old and needed easy access to baby stuff), I was lucky not to have encountered any problems.

A few years ago, my sister introduced me to this Canadian brand m0851 which makes really great leather bags and jackets. They have a really great leather cross body bag that has outer zipped pockets for stuff you need quick access to and the main compartment is spacious and also has smaller pockets. It's design is simple and understated so definitely not "eye catching" especially when travelling to riskier locations. I highly recommend it.

Used to take a Longchamp Le Pliage tote, but I've switched it out for a Bally Bernina tote.
Then for my crossbody bag, it used to be a Marc by Marc Jacobs preppy Natasha, now it's a Burberry crossbody bag. May switch it out for a LV pochette nm in epi.

I travel extensively all over the world and my absolute go to bag is my Burberry check backpack. It easily doubles as a purse but carries everything I need. Nice and light and stylish! Perfect.
