What bag would be considered an "Old Lady Handbag"?

The Coach Legacy Bags (with the brown vintage leather) and the Madeline tote are also considered "Old Lady-ish."

Coach Legacy

I owned the Madeline (but returned the Legacy one) and my mom thinks both bags are too old for me. But then again she rather see me carry small bags anyway. :cursing:

Also, the Rebecca Minkoff Gold dream bags are also considered old lady.

I'm in my early 20's and love Hermes, but I dont think I can ever pull of an Hermes Kelly, because something about it just screams "mature" lady. :shame: Absolutely no offese ladies, I wish I was able to pull in off.

Vera Bradley just doesn't appeal to me. They just don't seem like real handbags to me. Maybe it's because I think of knitting bags when I see them. Also, there is nothing worse than seeing a really grungy one that needs a good washing.

patchwork pleather with 2 short straps - many zippered compartments, rectangle shaped - bulging with junk -

But then there is retro "old" that is in right now - it is all in how you wear it -

my Mom made good money but always had some plastic bag from Bradlees - she just was not into bags.

I cant stand Vera Bradley - so goody goody sweet - I like my bag to be a little daring and sexy

I think that in today's unique styles and diversity of fashion, there is so such thing as an "old lady purse". I've seen old ladies with the most tredy bags, and I've seen teenagers with very sophisticated looking bags. It's all how you rock your purse!

I don't think that there are "old ladies handbags", it's just a matter of personal style and personality.
I like several kinds of handbags, but even if I'm 35 (so not a teen-ager anymore) I could not see myself wearing a Chanel classic flap or a Kelly by H.
It's not because of the classic design, and I also see younger women enjoying them...I just can't imagine myself feeling comfortable wearing them. Not yet at least.

I'm new here but thought I'd chime in to say an "old lady bag" is one like my great grandmother wore with a nicely laundered and ironed lace hankie inside. Don't you remember someone reaching in their purse and pulling one out that smelled like peppermints?

I like the old Dooneys and Coaches with the good quality leather that's lasted all this time and although I do have some of the signature bags from Coach I'm a bit tired of them. To me they're in the "classics" category.

Oh gosh, I'm 23 and love my black Madeline tote :oh:

I'm in my 20's as well and if I could I would own a Birkin in every color but I don't think I can pull a Kelly :hrmm:
