Thick black edge kote on pale colored bags also drives me crazy. It ruins the look for me when there's this ugly black sealant along the handles of a lovely blush leather bag and it's a sign of a cheap (for me anyway) bag. If you're making a pink bag, mix up some pink edge paint, for goodness's sake! It doesn't cost that much!

LV now does it to its Vernis bags.

Lol, do you think they do it to look more... contemporary?

That may be one word for it. When they want a stronger emphasis on lines on a bag, it can work well in adding contrast, but it needs to be deliberate beyond, "X" brand is edge painting their bags black, so we ought to do it too. I think it works better on bags with straight lines and sharper angles.

Fake bags because they are illegal and fund criminal activity.

Hopefully this doesn't turn into another contemporary designer bash thread.

I totally agree with you. I think it's entertaining to have a question of the week, but, when it feels like "bashing" it makes me uncomfortable. Lots of people here have saved long and hard to buy anything from MMK to Dooney to Givenchy, Gucci and Balenciaga. I don't want anyone to feel bad!

Totally agree, with a title like "What bag do you wish would go away" positively has the potential to go south.

It's just a matter of opinion, hopefully people on here are adult enough to be able to have a conversation about how they feel about certain bags, and maybe have an open enough mind to have those opinions changed.

Some are and some aren't......I know I have an open mind but can't speak for each and every person who posts on here.......not my job:yahoo:

Agree with both of you, also peoples budgets vary so while what some may deem as 'cheap' maybe a hard earned save up for others.

I get the idea of the thread, but the second i read the title i went.. yeah, here we go.

I think there is a difference between disliking things and bashing them the comparison that MK are are equal to fakes would be an example.

Whether somebody thinks a brand, style or what have you is worthwhile is totally up to them, but if it's a legitimate brand, it's in no way, size shape or form equal to fake, counterfeit goods.
You're exactly right here! MK bags are not claiming to be anything other than what they are. He doesn't replicate a LV Sofia Coppola and claim to be such. He merely puts his own spin on the bag.

Nowhere on his bag does it say LV.....on the contrary his logo is (IMO) too much all over the bag. And that's fine because if I want a bag with that silhouette and can afford his bag then that's the one I'll buy.......on the other hand, if status and vendor importance means something to me then I guess I'll try to save up and get the one that is the big $$$$$$$$.

To each their own.

+1. Abandon thread! Lol, but seriously, MK quality is not bad. Don't hate but the leather on my croc embossed Hamilton smells like my LV vernis summit drive. Just because the price points are hugely different, doesn't mean the quality of leather isn't there. I appreciate MK for making nicely crafted goods (many of his bags don't look cheap such as the all leather new hamiltons) but I also appreciate the monogram of LV because it is classic and represents an era of new luxury. So really, no need to bash, since every designer gives something different to the world of fashion.
