I agree that some of these bags a woman may never own or buy in her lifetime, however if I had to choose:
1. LV Speedy of any size (I say the monogram just because it goes with EVERYTHING and is a total classic bag that you will have FOREVER)
2. Chanel Flap: Its a Chanel..do I need to say anything else! :D:D
3. A clutch of any kind as long as its FUNKY!
4. I like the idea of a cross body bag..they are just convenient
5. A bag that you LOVE no matter the cost, brand, color, etc. I think that every woman should have a bag that they just HAD to buy!

I can't believe I wrote mine without looking at yours VL . It was only once I posted I saw how similar :ghi5:

I can't believe I didn't write clutch. Maybe because i had a hard time with my Delvaux Hannelore last Sat. Large wallet can double as a clutch too :p
What does it say about us that on our top 5 - you choose a briefcase and I a clutch?

Probably that either 1) I'm less practical, or 2) I tend to buy "every day bags" which double as briefcases (aka, the Lady Dior)

Either that, or I'm looking for a good excuse to add #6 onto the list... a briefcase isn't a purse, it is a business accessory :graucho:

ITA...and as such should be able to be a legitimately tax deductible :p

Hi, I buy from small independant boutiques that specialize in european designers such as Ripani, Roberta Gandolfi and Abaco.

I also buy somethings from etsy.

I am not into paying alot of money for a bag just because of the brands name behind it.

I got a Ripani bag from TJ Maxx. I love it! Nice construction, leather, and hardware..chocolate brown with animal print (fur) on the end pockets..and silver hardware....

I definitely think there are styles I think I should own:

1) clutch (I own several but do believe I need one that is jeweled or glam in some way..I own a pretty Prada one)
2) structured bag (I like my Jimmy Choo Malena)
3) a nice handheld bag (I have so many to choose from...a fave is a no name from TJ Maxx
4) an exotic type purse (I have the Valentino Histoire exotic)
5) purses with pops of color...colorful purses..patent purses (too many to name)

Here's my list. I do not recommend any particular brands, because it depends on individual taste. But here are the five basic categories that are essential for me. They include the following:

-neutral everyday bag
-tote bag (for carrying larger items, paperwork, etc)
-evening bag (special occasion)
-crossbody bag (travel, vacation)
-brightly colored bag (to add a pop of color to wardrobe)

Mine are:
1. Hermes Kelly/Hermes Birkin
2. Louis Vuitton Classic bag, such as the Speedy, the Alma or Batignolles
3. Chanel Flap/Reissue
4. A nice clutch.
5. A nice travel bag. Probably a cross-body.
