My eternity and engagement ring were bought together and were a size too big. They both have an eternity band. The jeweler put an extra thin band inside the band to size it smaller. I had it removed after having my baby because my ring size went up. This was fairly easy for the jeweler. I vote eternity..

Or get more/bigger diamonds and just have it on top!

My two cents...most practical all the way around is the plain band. The one we all love is the eternity band.

The eternity band is great, but the whole sizing issue is a problem. After three kids my bones and hands changed and if I had one it would not have fit me. I suggest if you love it you should wait until after you have your kids and your body goes through all of those changes.

Personally, I would not buy any band that isn't prong set. I have known way too many people who have had problems with all the other settings. Prong set will hold your diamonds the best.

If you really want the look of the eternity band you should go for one that has the diamonds that go 1/2 way around and just has the plain band part on the bottom. If you go 1/2 way most people won't know because the diamonds only show and it is nestled between the sides of your other two fingers. Then you also don't have the problem of resizing or damage due to banging it while doing any kind of work. You can also get larger stones for your money for more impact or go with smaller ones and stack a second band later for an anniversary. Lots of options on that one.

Oh, buy from the best quality you can! Then your diamonds will really sparkle!!!!

I have a diamond platinum eternity. My band is a 1/4 size bigger but my engagement ring holds it in place perfectly. If there are ring size fluctuations you have a little wiggle room. I was going to get a 7 stone band but I am sooo glad I didnt, I love the eternity band.

I have a channel set diamond wedding band...there are six 12 pt stones, so the stones go almost halfway around the band. We had it custom made to meet the exact width of my engagement ring. I have had no problems with it, and it's "blingy" but practical (no prongs to snag anything) at the same time, and it can be resized. I have received a LOT of compliments on my rings. Since both of my rings are fairly wide, I had the wedding band sized a half size larger than my engagement ring.

I have diamond eternity ring...I don't wear my engagement ring every day so I figure it's nice to have diamond eternity ring for little bling when the other one is resting in the box.

I like both...the Plain Platinum Band seems more practical (especially for me!) for everyday use...but I have a vintage 1920's Platinum & Diamond Art Deco ring that I would DIE if anything happened to! Here's a pic...it seems so delicate...but it's lasted for many years!!!!

I LOVE anything vintage!

That's a GORGEOUS ring!! I love vintage or vintage-looking rings too!

I have both the plain platinum band and a diamond eternity ring. I love my eternity ring so much I wear it everyday instead of my engagement ring. I haven't had any problems with loose prongs or stones.

Thanks SO much for complementing my ring! I LOVE it too...but so terrified that something will happen to it!!! I also have a 1 year anniversary white gold with two rows of tiny Princess cut diamonds...I am not too worried about that one, but it's REALLY pretty & simple...:shame:

Actually, my favorite ring in the ENTIRE world is my engagement ring... ...that's b/c it has a bit of history...

When my parents got engaged they didn't have money...let alone to spend on a ring...so my father cut the prong part of an English Silver Fork and made it into a ring for my mother...

I wore this ring for YEARS...then my husband stole it from me...or it is safe to assume that he made me believe I lost it! (Devastated!!):censor: And then when he asked me to marry him...there was my ring...but he & my father had attached a 42 b.c. Marc Anthony coin (it's really beautiful!) on it...it is so sentimental that it is safe to assume that I am REALLY terrified to wear that one!!!!

The coin has a silver bevel/ frame to secure it onto the 3 prongs...you would have to see a pic!

Ladies, post pics of your ring if you can! I'm thinking a lot about the channel rings (Those that go halfway) because of practicality but at the same time, Eternity diamond rings are sooo :love: The bling is sooo :love:but I am afraid of appearing as a show-off as some of my relatives are pretty competitive.... :hrmm: as is commonly found in most Chinese families...

Selena, I wear a Size 5, should I get a Size 5 1/4 or 5 1/2 to prepare for size increment due to future kids I might be popping?

I went with a 5-stone 1.25 ct prong set band:

(excuse my nail color! :shame: The photo is a few years old and even I'm offended by that nail polish! ;) )

Itsabagslife, I personally think the 5 stone halfway band is good...you can go with bigger diamonds that way. It's not like the ring will be twirling loose on your finger, so it'll look like an eternity band...except with bigger diamonds than you'll be able to get if you went with a full eternity.

I totally understand what you mean with Chinese families. Go for a KILLER engagement ring! I especially dislike the way OLDER generations are always so nosy and status-seeking...*sigh*
