Wearing engagement ring to sleep?

I never take my rings off (ering, wband) unless I'm cleaning them.

The only other times are when I'm gardening or making soap or coloring my hair. :smile1: I put them in the same spot in my jewelry box each time so I don't lose them -- and immediately put them back on when I'm done.

i never ever take it off unless i'm going on vacation and i keep it home safe or if i'm cooking something where i have to season meat and get my hands dirty. but i always keep it on. i heart her  yes i call it her LOL

I take it off. I have heard certain metals (either platinum or white gold ) I cannot recall which, can get damaged if you sleep with it (like worn down by rubbing on the bedding or something. You can probably find out on Pricescope. That's where I read it.

How is this habit strange? I wear my engagement and wedding rings all day, every day, unless I'm cooking, showering, cleaning, or grooming (applying makeup or body lotion or hair products something of that nature). This means I sleep in them as well. Why wouldn't I?

when i first got my e-ring, i wore it all the time, except in the shower. I stopped wearing it to bed when i knocked it on the wall in my sleep & then i needed to take it in the get the prongs tightened when i realized the diamond was a little loose in the setting.

So now, i take my e-ring off when i sleep and i'm doing stuff around the house (our pet lovebird loves to try & chew anything shiny/sparkly) but i'll always wear my wedding band.

My three-stone is set pretty high but I still wear it 24/7/365. Once I had taken it off to clean in the sonic cleaner, forgot to put it back on, woke up in the middle of the night because my hand felt weird without it, and had to get up and rinse it off and put it back on before I could fall asleep again.

Other jewelry I never take off: the Cartier Love bracelet (for obvious reasons) and I have tragus and helix piercings that will not come out unless I want to go at them with the pliers...

I understand that for some people it's impractical. I guess I'm having a hard time understanding how it can be considered "strange."

I think because "normal" is so differne tfor all of us. KWIM?
My jeweler thought I was crazy when I told her I sleep in my studs at night. I thought she was crazy for bothering to remove hers every night! LOL!

My fingers are swollen every AM compared to later in the day - so I take off my rings at night; I often cannot even get them back on until a few hours after I get up (I know, sounds gross). And If I wore tham to bed inadvertently, then I can't get them off without the help of some lotion or soap :o(

Maybe it's because I'm older(and not as thin as when I married)? I don't remember this happening in the earlier years of my marriage 22 years ago

I take all of my jewlery off as soon as I get home...I feel naked without it outside of the house, but can't stand it once I'm home.

Weird little me! :)

I do the same thing! I have to take off all of my jewelry - rings, bracelet, watch, earrings, and necklace as soon as I get home and I place everything in a wood box in my bedroom. But when I go out - work, errands, etc., I have to wear everything otherwise I do feel naked! Especially if I don't have my wedding rings on my finger.

My finger swells up at night if I have left my rings on, so I always take the rings off. Occasionally, I will wear a new bracelet to bed but then eventually I take it off at night. However, I do not shower with any jewelry on at all.

When I was younger, I slept with all my jewelry on, including my watch. Now that I'm older, I remove everything except my earrings (Huggies) and a small flexible bracelet. My other jewelry comes off when I get home. When I had a bezel set engagement ring I'd wear it 24/7, but the one I have now is set high and is not comfortable to sleep in. So I'd say it's not weird to sleep with an engagement ring on or off, rather it's just a personal comfort choice.

I always take my engagement ring off when I am in the shower or swimming. Sometimes I sleep with it on and sometimes I don't. I know wear my engagement ring on my middle finger because it slides on my ring finger ( I am going to have re-sized when I am back in NY). However last week I was wearing a hoodie with a zipper that scratched my face and now I am trying to remember to remove my engagement ring. I am not married yet so I don't know what I would do with the Wedding band.
