maybe slightly off topic but if suede gets a little dirty do i brush the shoe with a baby brush or something before spraying

Suede you need to use a suede brush first. Meltonian (shocker) makes a suede cleaner with a suede brush that you need to clean them with first.

I made the mistake of being overzealous and wearing my RB Suede MBBs without spraying them and driving in them. Fortunately, the Meltonian suede cleaner took the dirt off quickly and then I sprayed them and now they are good. I'm lazy so I don't take my booties off to drive.

Suede needs a stiffer brush than python or watersnake.

awww thanks! i'm just worried about the colors getting darker - especially the Pink Powder & the Jade- since it was darker than i thought already!

Well, you saw the pictures of mine and I can tell you from a lot of experience that it doesn't change the color or texture like the Apple Garde. But I want you to do what you feel comfortable with. Don't do it if it makes you nervous.

I just know that it has saved my bags and shoes and some of my Chanel pythons are so light colored and/or fragile python and I know that it has kept them safe without changing the colors.

Shoes are one thing but trusting an $8000 bag is a different story and I do it. Whether that makes you feel any better or not, it doesn't matter. It's what YOU feel is the right thing to do.

Your decision will be the right one.:hugs:

Question....

You said to brush against the scales when cleaning...does it matter if you brush both ways? I feel like brushing against the scales will only push the dirt more under the scales...am I wrong for interpreting it this way?

Slightly off topic...

Nat, how is Meltonian on suede? Does it turn the suede "crunchy?" I sprayed a pair of blue suede Sergio Rossi's with Apple Garde and the suede got all hard and dark... brushing with a suede brush helped a little to restore the texture, but now I'm scared to treat my suede CLs with anything. Any luck?

Yes, I'd like to know too!

Hi Mishy-no, it does not turn it "crunchy". It keeps it soft. I've never used the Apple Garde on suede after it ruined a pair of my pythons. The Meltonian is actually made for suede. The use for exotics just happens to be a bonus. I treat all my suedes with it.

I actually used it on my Prada suede skirt, my D & G suede jacket. Works awesome. My D & G suede jacket is a really, really soft suede and it stayed that way and the jacket is a butter color.

Hope that helps.

I know its not exotic but has anyone tried this on pony hair?

Hi kv-I don't know whether you're supposed to or not but I had the same Bakikis that you have in your Avatar and I sprayed them because I bought them to wear to an event that I knew it was probably going to be sketchy weather and it was and it kept them from getting dirty or yucky.

I will tell you that I fluffed them with my soft brush after the 2nd spraying and they looked even better than when I got them.
