After going back and reading the posts, I just purchased 3 cans of Melatonin from Amazon.com for 5 bucks a can. I can't wait to use it on all of my CLs and my Leather bags. I just have one question. Will I need to cover the red sole or will it still have it's shiny lacquer to it if spray gets on them? I have heard that the sole is really delicate and that you shouldn't let any type of spray touch it. I don't know how true it is, but if anyone knows, it's Nat. I will use this on all my leather CLs, but I won't use it on my Patent leather, or should I? I figured that since it's Patent, that I didn't need to protect it. Any help will truly be appreciated. TIA and than you Nat, for this thread! :hugs:

Hey Hun! I remember someone else asking Nat a similar question about the sole.
No need to worry about the red sole or treating patent leather.

Thank you so much, Shontel! I was really wondering about if it would strip the lacquer off or anything like that. I can't wait to treat my Python Daffs and the rest of my shoes! Since this would be my very FIRST time doing this, I will have to read though the pages to see how to apply correctly, though I doubt there is a wrong way. Thanks again, Hun! ;-D

Hey ladies

I've got the water snake Saba Dafs and I'm wondering what spray to use to protect and condition the skin? I guess melatonin spray is the favourite but I just want to double check.

TIA!

Have any of you had a problem with the Melatonin staining your shoes in certain areas? I was just curious because I sprayed my Daf Tag Booty and there seems to be two stains that aren't going away! I hope because it is still fresh, but if it isn't gone within the hour, I will be worried. Is Melatonin staining possible? TIA

I have my UUUUUHG Roccia Opaco Python Daffs and I have not worn them out yet but I have worn them around the house to break them in because I was unsure of treatment. So, I should use Melatonin spray for these and nothing else? I am so lost when it comes to these, as these are my very first pair of exotics. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. TIA

Beautiful - they deserve to be cared for

Hi there,
I have the exact same pair as you. I was really nervous treating mine but after some research on this forum, I decided to condition with Bick 4 and waterproof with Melatonin spray. I was worried about the curling of the scales so I decided to condition it first with Bick 4 and waited for it to dry. I conditioned using my fingers so to avoid using too much of the conditioner. After it dried, I was happy that there was no color stain! I immediately proceeded with the Melatonin waterproofing spray. I sprayed it about an arm's length away from the shoe. And voila here is the result.

I've used Melatonin on kid, satin, and suede CLs. I didn't cover the soles (inside or outside) on any of them and I've not seen any change to the red lacquer (outersole) or gold lettering (insole).

I have not treated any of my patent CLs or BAs with Melatonin, but I have used the petroleum jelly / freezer method that Nat recomended. It worked wonders at shining up my patent shoes!!

I don't have any exotics, so nothing to report there.

Hope this helps!!

I just treated my python VP's w/Bick 4 and wow is all I cam say! The scales laid down so nicely and the overall condition of the shoe improved. I then sprayed them with my Wilson's leather spray and the colored remained the same...I love them even more now that I know how to take care of them!

Does anyone have pictures of python damage they are willing to share?

My new pair of Summerissima arrived with a brown stain on the white python. My SA sent them off to be cleaned. Since this is my first pair of python, I don't have a frame of reference to determine if the python survived the cleaning.

Thank you so much!!

Misty, what is Bick 4? Should I have used that instead of Melatonin n my Python Daffs? :wondering

Hey Lady,

I really like Bick 4 because I instantly saw a difference in the feel of the scales. I brought it from eBay and it arrived pretty quickly...I personally would use this on my exotic skin. When I took my VP's to get new heel taps my cobbler said it was highly recommended!

Here's a link to what I purchased....

I'm so glad you gave a review! I just ordered some Bick from ebay too a few days ago after a quick forum search so I'm glad to hear it worked out well for you. I have a few scales on my new python VPs that are curling too so I'm really excited to try this stuff now to get them all back and nice again. :smile1:

Yeah it worked great! They didn't look as dry anymore....I like that I can actually apply it to the shoe instead of the spray....
