Yeah it worked great! They didn't look as dry anymore....I like that I can actually apply it to the shoe instead of the spray....

Awesome!! Did you just use your hands as I read others have done here, or did you use a cloth? And I assume just apply in the direction of the scales and let dry? Anything else that had to be done or did they just lay down on their own?

Hi Ladies..:X

I just got my first very prive python today and really glad that I found this thread..:D.
I'm in the UK and it is very difficult to get hold of Melatonin and Bick 4. Can anyone recommend any alternative spray and conditioner for me please?
Thank you.

Congratulations on a fabulous acquisition. From where did you get it may I ask?

I used a clean dry cloth to apply it to the shoes. I applied it in the direction of the scales and let them dry for minute then store in the dustbag. The scales laid down on their own...Oh and I keep them away from direct sun light. HTH

I just treated my python VP's w/Bick 4 and wow is all I cam say! The scales laid down so nicely and the overall condition of the shoe improved. I then sprayed them with my Wilson's leather spray and the colored remained the same...I love them even more now that I know how to take care of them!

I just ordered the bick 4 for my new python VP and so glad to hear someone confirming its magic. I am still a little bit concern of applying it on the shoes though. My VP is the python menthe/red fairytale collection. The base color is menthe and on each scale, there is some red. The scales look very dry although they are brand new. (See picture, especially on the left near the peep toe, you can see the scales curl up)

My concern is that will applying the conditioner transforming the colors (menthe through the red etc)? I am not an expert of exotics, are there multiple types of python leather (there is this type I have with scales far away from each other and I also saw some python with scales very close to each other and form a nice pattern if you know what i mean)? Are they all applicable to bick 4?

Thanks so much and anyone with advice please chime in!!! :D

Would you ladies recommend DIY white python? If so, what products to use? One side is pure white and the other side is a yellowing. I don't want to spray or treat it with anything yet until this discoloration is taken care of. TIA

Those are very beautiful! Maybe you could try a patch test? Take a small area and test it out. It says that it won't change the color on the label but you can never be too sure...Try small corner on the inside which you can't see when walking...hopefully someone else can chime in...

Can I use meltonian on my python summerissimas? I'm so nervous this is my first pair with any exotic on it! Also I noticed a lot of the display ones in the stores start to turn yellow after awhile does anyone know how to prevent that?

Yes, I've used it on my exotic CL's before, didn't look/feel any different afterwards

Thanks!!! Just want to report back what I found by trying bick 4 on my menthe red python. There was no color transforming or losing etc. However the moisturizing effect isn't that obvious to me. Well maybe I was expecting too much - the ones curled up real bad are down after one application and some finger massaging and I applied three times in total in about 30 mins. Now I'm letting them dry a bit. In general I'm pretty happy. Maybe they will get better after more times of spa. It's a hell of dried up snake I got. Haha!

This topic seems to be coming up frequently with all of the new Nabuck Watersnake out right now.

I am offering what I've been using for several years to water/stainproof all of my Nabuck, Opaco, python, watersnake, eel, suede, alligator, lambskin, etc shoes (Louboutins) and handbags (Chanels).

I am not making any guarantees or promises but everyone that I have given this advice to has had great success with it.

The product that I use (which is what the best cobblers who deal with exotics use) is Meltonian Waterproof/Stainproof. A link to it on Amazon.com is here:
http://www.amazon.com/WATERPROOFERS-AND-CLEANERS-MELTONIAN-WATERPROOF/dp/B004IA0RI8

Spray your shoes, bags, etc, one time from arm's length away completely. Let dry overnight. Repeat. When you first spray them, they are going to darken. You will see them immediately start to lighten back up to their original color as the spray dries. Don't panic.

They will get dirty. Buy a very soft brush (I use a facial brush) to brush the dirt out of the scales. Go against the scales. Never retreat a dirty shoe or treat a dirty shoe as you will simply be embedding the dirt into the scales that way.

I treat my shoes, depending on wear, every 6-8 months and have them professionally cleaned as little as possible and only as needed. When you have them professionally cleaned, make sure you tell your cobbler that they are treated with Meltonian because they won't have to use as harsh of a cleaner.

I have used this on stark white Opaco python and just got done spraying my new Powder Pink Jennys.

To show you how good it is, my original Powder Pink ADs are 3 years old and I am just now going to dye them, not because they are so dirty but because I now have (finally) new PP shoes and can dye these. They have been professionally cleaned 4 or 5 times.

The more you have to professionally clean Nabuck or Opaco, the more the python lays down. So, that's why it's so important to treat your shoes as soon as you get them.

Feel free to ask any questions. But, hopfully, this gives you the information that you've been looking for.
Can you do a youtube video to show how you clean the shoes? Thanks

Hi!

So I did a search and only found one question on this, but just a quick answer, nothing anyone specifically did or experienced.

I am nervous about treating my Carnival Highness with Meltonian spray. Becuase the entre sheo isnt all just python, do you think anything weird would happen with the paint that is on the shoe? I just dont want it to start dripping over the shoe, etc.

Has anyone treated their Carnival print pythons?!

Thanks!!!

I'm happy it worked out for you! I have used it 3x so far and they look a whole lot better than when I first got them. I like that I can apply it directly instead of using the spray...

Help guys! Problem with a non CL pair :( I've always used Bick 4 on my python flats and they worked perfectly fine so I thought they would be OK for my YSL Tribtoos but after using it on one shoe it made it darker! I thought it was because it wasn't dry yet so I left them alone for the entire night and the shoe is still darker :( I guess I should do the other shoe so they'll match but is there anything I can do to lighten the color back to it's original color?
