Nat, thank you for this thread and for responding to my email. I treated my Python Lucido HPs last night and this afternoon. Shiny as ever and beeeeeeeeaaaaaaaauuuuuuuutiful.

Glad that they turned out as expected. Mine look great and I wore them yesterday and it rained and the rain just rolled off of them.

No worries. Thanks for your reply. I guess I should order a few more bottles before I start spraying, since I could pretty much spray it on anything and everything :D

LOL...I just started buying it by the case. I got 3 new Caviar Chanels and just sprayed them all. That was a full can and that was just the first coat. So, yeah, it goes fast.;)

xlovely-You are getting like me. I saturate my shoes and bags. So, I'm right there with you. I used an entire can on my new XL Roccia Python Givenchy Nightengale.

Glad to know I'm normal :p (or we're both spray-happy!). Your shoes/bag collection is super :drool::drool:

I sprayed most of my exotic CLs with Meltonian and I wore my watersnake ADs the other day...no dirt so far but if ever they get dirty is a super soft bristle toothbrush ok to use instead of a facial brush?

Did you do anything different than normal to them? I haven't treated mine yet. There is one scale that is a little bit curled on it otherwise they are in perfect condition. I also have to treat my Eel VPs I just got, have never had Eel anything before.

This topic seems to be coming up frequently with all of the new Nabuck Watersnake out right now.

I am offering what I've been using for several years to water/stainproof all of my Nabuck, Opaco, python, watersnake, eel, suede, alligator, lambskin, etc shoes (Louboutins) and handbags (Chanels).

I am not making any guarantees or promises but everyone that I have given this advice to has had great success with it.

The product that I use (which is what the best cobblers who deal with exotics use) is Meltonian Waterproof/Stainproof. A link to it on Amazon.com is here:
http://www.amazon.com/WATERPROOFERS-AND-CLEANERS-MELTONIAN-WATERPROOF/dp/B004IA0RI8

Spray your shoes, bags, etc, one time from arm's length away completely. Let dry overnight. Repeat. When you first spray them, they are going to darken. You will see them immediately start to lighten back up to their original color as the spray dries. Don't panic.

They will get dirty. Buy a very soft brush (I use a facial brush) to brush the dirt out of the scales. Go against the scales. Never retreat a dirty shoe or treat a dirty shoe as you will simply be embedding the dirt into the scales that way.

I treat my shoes, depending on wear, every 6-8 months and have them professionally cleaned as little as possible and only as needed. When you have them professionally cleaned, make sure you tell your cobbler that they are treated with Meltonian because they won't have to use as harsh of a cleaner.

I have used this on stark white Opaco python and just got done spraying my new Powder Pink Jennys.

To show you how good it is, my original Powder Pink ADs are 3 years old and I am just now going to dye them, not because they are so dirty but because I now have (finally) new PP shoes and can dye these. They have been professionally cleaned 4 or 5 times.

The more you have to professionally clean Nabuck or Opaco, the more the python lays down. So, that's why it's so important to treat your shoes as soon as you get them.

Feel free to ask any questions. But, hopfully, this gives you the information that you've been looking for.

thanks hon, for this info - especially the instructions. i ordered some of this but with the postal strike, etc. i only just received my meltonian stuff (suede cleaner and protector spray bottles) very recently- will be going to spray the eel, suede and pythons tonight.

Nope, just followed nat's instructions from the first post with the meltonian spray. My scales are still laying down after three wears. I do not know if the spray factors into that but they are still perfect. The sheen of the lucido also looks exactly the same to me. My DH says they look a smidge less shiny to him but I am either in denial, he is wrong, or I don't care. Either way, I feel better wearing them knowing they are covered ;).

^^Anything for you, jenay! Here are my before and after photos in both indoor and outdoor light. In the indoor "before" shot, the left footed shoe is about the same distance from the camera and flash as in the "after shot." The outdoor shots are taken at different times of day facing in different directions, but I think you’ll get the idea.
