Oh, BTW, I know this is the Louboutin thread but I just sprayed my new Chanel Camellia heel sandals. They are some kind of linen or something but the front is nude and the rest of the shoe is black. They came out beautifully. So, it works really well on fabric shoes, too.
This is the shoe, you can determine your Louboutins that are the same type of fabric. Chanel website says Grosgrain.

I always wondered about fabric too --- thanks Nat! :hugs:

ntngo-----I just purchased my first can of Meltonian as well! Over 60+ pairs of Louboutin shoes alone (none of which had ever been treated...partially bc of my laziness and the other bc of fear that I would ruin them!). Happy to report that I now have 60+ pairs of shoes treated!
Thank you for the Meltonian recommendation! (Funny enough, one of my Louboutin sales associates just recommended it to me a month ago...AFTER I had already learned about it from you!)

WOW, chacci, you did 60 pairs at once? You are far more motivated than I am. If I didn't them when I got them (bags, too), I'd never get them done. Good for you. You actually just motivated me to go...I don't know...go to the gym or clean out my closets some more. Way to put the pressure on.:p

Ha Ha!!! No, not all at once!! I did a lot of them at once and the others just as I wore them. The only prob. with doing it that way was that now I have a few that have been sprayed 3 or 4 times bc I couldn't remember if I had already done them or not when I got around to wearing them!
P.S.---I actually did end up cleaning out my shoe closet when I did this and put a few on E-bay! :graucho::smile1:

Yes...at least 60 pairs! Remember though...I've accumulated over many years!!! (My first pair that I purchased was in 2005/2006) and I never protected any of them! (Very bad!). As far as how many cans...amazing how quickly 1 can finishes! Ha ha...:smile1::smile1:

This is all really for the Chanel thread but I'll answer it here.

First of all NEVER EVER take your Chanel bag to be cleaned anywhere but a free standing Chanel owned boutique. If anything happens to it (and just go to the Chanel thread to read some horror stories that I had to help undo) only the Chanel owned boutiques (Free Standing) will replace the bag at full value. Even if you have to send it to a boutique. Never let Saks, NM, Nordies, any of them repair or clean your bag.

That being said. The Meltonian creme isn't for dying your bag, it is for helping to get scratches off of lambskin and nappa. I use the neutral color because you can use it on any color bag or shoe. It is very, very gentle.

If you want to spray your Lambskin or Caviar bag, please do it holding the can as far away as possible and a light mist twice. I did my beige (nude) Lambskin maxi and it helped keep it from having my dark clothes rub off on to the back of the bag. The Meltonian All Purpose Cleaner & Conditioner (not the Dyo for exotics) for spot cleaning. You can also use it to condition your patents.

Anything major, though, send it to Chanel.

sorry to bump this thread but i bought the meltonian boot and shoe polish in nuetral to get some light scuff and scratches off of my alta bouton which i think are nappa leather and it seems to have made the spots where i applied it dull and and kind of rough i used a glasses cleaning cloth since its soft ...did i use the wrong product or just used it wrong?

So, I sprayed my pony hair leopard MBP with Melatonian and it worked great! The hair is still soft and it didn't change color. I brushed the hair first, then sprayed, let it dry, then brushed it again and sprayed again. Thanks for recommending this product Nat!!

This topic seems to be coming up frequently with all of the new Nabuck Watersnake out right now.

I am offering what I've been using for several years to water/stainproof all of my Nabuck, Opaco, python, watersnake, eel, suede, alligator, lambskin, etc shoes (Louboutins) and handbags (Chanels).

I am not making any guarantees or promises but everyone that I have given this advice to has had great success with it.

The product that I use (which is what the best cobblers who deal with exotics use) is Meltonian Waterproof/Stainproof. A link to it on Amazon.com is here:
http://www.amazon.com/WATERPROOFERS-AND-CLEANERS-MELTONIAN-WATERPROOF/dp/B004IA0RI8

Spray your shoes, bags, etc, one time from arm's length away completely. Let dry overnight. Repeat. When you first spray them, they are going to darken. You will see them immediately start to lighten back up to their original color as the spray dries. Don't panic.

They will get dirty. Buy a very soft brush (I use a facial brush) to brush the dirt out of the scales. Go against the scales. Never retreat a dirty shoe or treat a dirty shoe as you will simply be embedding the dirt into the scales that way.

I treat my shoes, depending on wear, every 6-8 months and have them professionally cleaned as little as possible and only as needed. When you have them professionally cleaned, make sure you tell your cobbler that they are treated with Meltonian because they won't have to use as harsh of a cleaner.

I have used this on stark white Opaco python and just got done spraying my new Powder Pink Jennys.

To show you how good it is, my original Powder Pink ADs are 3 years old and I am just now going to dye them, not because they are so dirty but because I now have (finally) new PP shoes and can dye these. They have been professionally cleaned 4 or 5 times.

The more you have to professionally clean Nabuck or Opaco, the more the python lays down. So, that's why it's so important to treat your shoes as soon as you get them.

Feel free to ask any questions. But, hopfully, this gives you the information that you've been looking for.

Gotta bump this again and thank you Nat for the recommendation! Those of us who have tried apple and found it wanting finally have a viable alternative. I agree with Jenaywins and hope that you're getting commission from Meltonian!

Okay I am about to go on a mass treatment binge! Considering what's been sold and what's on it's way at the moment I have about 29 Loubies I've bought in 2011. Since quite a few are patent I say I only have about 21 to treat including suede, pony, and exotics...but I only bought two bottles of Meltonian Water and Stain, 1 bottle of Apple protector, and 1 Apple Suede and nubuck cleaner...wish me luck!

I spray them when they need them. The ones that I wear a lot, I spray like every 8 months. You want to avoid having to have them professionally cleaned because that makes the scales lay down and you really have to condition them and brush them once they are professionally cleaned.

Ok, let's see the bag. I really have to have that bag now. Thanks a lot. Just what I need...another bag.:p

Umm...before I treated my WS Saba Dafs I noticed the scales on the front of the right shoe are rolling up...so instead of treating them I'm wondering if they need to be returned. Is there a way to fix that?
