Ok. So I followed the instructions and it turned out great!!! The only thing is I still need to steam it to get the wrinkles out but:ty:very easy!!:D

Thanks for sharing your experiences washing your c/s GMs. I've washed silks and been very happy with the results. I use Dreft washing powder. I had some on hand as it was recommended by the manufacturer of some linen bedding I purchased a few years ago. FWIW....

Hi Peeps -

Just washed my EL GM, used color catcher sheets, the black dye did release, but I rinsed a few times and it looks good with no color bleed. Its drying on a towel and I will give it an iron while damp. Thanks for all the info ladies!

:)

I am delighted to find this thread. I wash my scarves basically in the same manner and Tesi and Gina. I have been using a smidgen of Orvus Paste dissolved in a little hot water and then adding this to a cold water bath. This is less than the amount on the Orvus directions. I gently agitate by hand and then rinse, rinse, rinse in cold water, roll in a large white towel and dry flat. I store each scarf separately in acid free tissue paper and acid free boxes which I from Talus in New York. I would like to learn more about the Shout color catcher.
Thank you so much for this thread. I am always learning.:smile1:

Hello!

Does anyone have experience hand washing the cashmere and silk, woven pattern scarves from the men's line? I'm interested in purchasing one that has rolled edges on the two sides (like the GM ladies shawls have), but has fringe on the two ends. I'm wondering if the fringe will tend to unravel when gently washed, or perhaps the base of the fringe is sewn to prevent this from happening?

I prefer to hand wash, so it would be so helpful to know in advance of buying, if anyone has successfully hand washed this style!

Hi Ladies

I am hesitating giving my GM to dry cleaning or washing it by myself

I know that my SA told me that they can be handwashed

did some of you ever done it and how

thank you for your kind :smile1:advices

I hand washed one this weekend and it turned out fine. I followed the instructions for washing Hermes silks, wrapped in a clean towel to remove excess moisture and then dried flat. It cleaned beautifully. It is lovely and soft and drapes even better than before it was washed.

I don't have a c/s shawl (how I wish) but my SA told me she put hers in her washing machine on the wool/delicate program, spinning set to 400 rpm. And she is the one who cringes whenever I tell her I hand wash my silk scarves. ;)

I handwash in Woolite [ liquid detergent for cashmere and silk] very little product and tepid water . Put in lingerie bag and spin in machine. Dry flat on towel away from direct heat.
I've only washed one, a GM from 8yrs back which has very strong reds and orange against a neutral ground . I was happy with the result and I adore that just washed wool feel and smell and avoid chemicals like the plague . However it may have bled very slightly , I 'm not sure as it's minimal and for me anything is preferable to dry cleaning chemicals .
Wouldn't hesitate to wash my others .

I'm so glad to hear this. I have several GMs that I have been wearing non-stop and really want to wash.... I will hand wash them this weekend. Thx for all the advice... :tpfrox:
