No. OP stated she aleady shut down all PP accounts. They can but there is not way for them to access this. I'm sure Kristie has protective meaures preventing PP from accessing personal account now at Chase. Best thing to do though, is to close down that account and open a brand new account. All pp has on file is the old account at Chase which will be closed. As for her paypal account, they could keep her -11K but then she can open up a new one. Let that 11K- sit there till the world comes to an end.

Someone posted a thread before about a PP account that was negative due to them being scammed - and when they opened a new account PP eventually figured out it was the same person and I think they froze the second account.

they will link the accounts. after an 11K experience like this, I would never deal with paypal again.

After reading all of this, I still think Paypal is going to show her as having a negative balance of $11K in her (closed) account and send a collection agency after her. Sorry, but you know they aren't in the business of losing money and they play dirty!

I agree with this unfortunately. I have fingers crossed that we are wrong though!

I'm interested in learning more about the other payment options that sellers are able to use on eBay. I think when you buy on eBay, you should use Paypal but when you sell, these other options that OP mentioned may be better options. Does anyone know anything about them(moneybookers or paymate)?

How can one "buy" using Paypal if the seller doesn't "sell" with the paypal option? :smile1:

OP, I hope it all works out for you. I can't honestly say I'm a fan of Chase after how they royally screwed me over on something different, but I'm glad that at least the CC division is trying to do right for you.

Woohoo! Congrats on the partial victory OP. Hopefully the 45 days will pass without any issues and you can move on from this horrible experience. I'm proud to be a Chase bank customer right now :woohoo:

Yes, I saw that post. I was just wondering if PayPal could still give her a negative PayPal balance. I know they cannot take the money from her account with Chase.
Paypal can't make my account $11k negative because it is closed at $0.00.

They cannot just send me a collection notice for $11k either. They have to duke it out with Chase, not me, if it came to that.

CHASE is the one that took MY money back from paypal's thieving grubby little hands.

My bank account that was linked to PP is also closed.

The bad part of this is that I cannot BUY anything on eBay if the seller only accepts pp :-(

I am by NO means defending Paypal, but I think they do this because so many people actually DO sell fakes. When I was the buyer in this situation, the seller was mass selling charms and I knew if I sent them back, they would just relist them and sell them to someone else, and someone else would have to go through all of the hassle that I did. Paypal had me destroy the charms so that the seller couldn't resell them. What they REALLY should do in high ticket items is have the buyer send it to them and then have an authenticating company decide if it is real or not. If it is, the seller gets it back and if not, it is destroyed. I'm pretty sure Paypal makes enough money to fund an authentication company for cases such as this

Then what if the scammer has the exact same bag, only it is fake? They could keep the authentic bag and send the fake bag in to be authenticated. So the seller would still get screwed in that situation.

Selling on ebay is just too risky!

Great thinking getting your bank involved OP! Its nice to hear a happy ending!

This makes me want to transfer my banking account to Chase. My current banking is a credit union which will never do such kind of service for me. This sure gave PP a valuable lesson!!! Congratulation!!!

I quit using Chase CC.
They SUCK!
I bought a tunic online from an overseas boutique, and wore it less then 2 weeks later
on vacation...
and it literally fell apart along the seams,
the piece was huge on me, so I was livid.
Even my S.O said "WTF" when I showed him..
I had it on less then 2 hours , lounging by the pool and having lunch.
The shop refused to take it back because
I hadn't contacted them within 5 days on receiving
it to request a return.
I didn't know the seams were going separate when I moved until I wore it.
I was told by the shop via email that the material was 'special'..I replied that
it was so effing special it can only be worn a couple of hours!!!???

I disputed the charge, and was told to return it to the seller by
Chase.

The boutique never claimed the item in customs, so I was never
refunded, even though I had proof of shipping and that customs received it.
I was out over $275 plus return shipping.

Imagine if the item was a fake $2,000 bag that was being returned..
if the seller never claims the item or signs for it in customs
then the buyer is really screwed.

I felt lucky I was only out $275 plus..it could've been much worse.

Beware of
http://www.chicstbarth.com/
Terrible CS and business tactics!!!

No bank or card is perfect..
but what protection does the buyer have if the
seller refuses to accept a return???
This is absolute Bu**Sh**!

Chase lost a hell of a lot of money from me by pulling this crap!!
I now use my AX.
They're great!

I'm glad OP got her money back..
I wish the buyer got some sort of punishment
:(

Shoot. At this point, I'd have a friend purchase anything on eBay that you cannot live without. $11k is worth it. I am SO glad that this worked out in your favour. You did not deserve to even have to deal with this.

You would buy from a seller who uses Paypal and if you sell on eBay, you would just require the buyer to use your method of payment. Sure you will lose sales but it's better than being scammed. If every seller stopped using Paypal, then it wouldn't work, but otherwise it is the safest option at this point.

Aren't you allowed to use a credit card through paypal, if you don't have a paypal account? Before I had a paypal account, I went to buy leggings through a company website, and even though I put in my credit card info, it said it would go through paypal, and it showed up as a paypal purchase on my credit card bill. Paypal asked if I wanted to open an account, I just said no.

Does it still work that way?
