Hi all!
So, to answer the questions regarding HOW I was protected.......
So.........when the $11K was put BACK in my PP account to make it "whole" obviously I was under the impression that:

1. I would win the dispute because of all my evidence, etc.

2. The buyer would HAVE to return the bag if she won.

I mean, DUH..........you cannot just got to Hermes and ask to return a bag but then say, "Wow, I need to keep the bag after all and by the way, I want the credit also!"

Soooooo........that is where PP is F'd. They CANNOT keep my money from my debit ACH transfer AND allow the buyer to keep my bag regardless of what she stated.

I mean NO MERCHANT allows a return AND a full credit KWIM???

Makes sense to ME and it makes sense to Chase.......clearly Paypal is the only one with their head up their a$$.

This makes me want to transfer my banking account to Chase. My current banking is a credit union which will never do such kind of service for me. This sure gave PP a valuable lesson!!! Congratulation!!!

I closed or tried to close my pp accounts last night^ I can't close one because my phone number and addy are different. I have to speak to a live person to close:mad:
the other account says I have an instant transfer pending which is impossible I haven't done business w/pp for a while. I am so done with them after this thread. I am so sorry you had to go through this nightmare of a mess. I am glad you posted so others can shut their PP down as well. I would rather not sell than be at risk by some company who clearly has a scammer's best interest at heart. This is a huge warning to those that may still think paypal is safe, fast and friendly. I have sent this thread to literally hundreds of people @ my kid's school, my school, work, my hospital, you name it, it's there. Kristie I spent so much time last night reading this thread and really owe you for taking time to WARN people about the criminal activity that is Paypal's reality!

If you won't take PP, can you still sell on Ebay? I thought Ebay made you take PP. I know they won't let you mention any payment that you will accept like money orders. Maybe just accept credit cards? Amex would probably be the best one. Hope someone can answer.

No, Moneybookers and Paymate are accepted forms of payment on Ebay.......unfortunately a LOT of people (including me until recently) think that PP is the only way you can pay.

Great job OP- your hard work and clever idea paid off! I just love the way this ended- AWESOME :) Wondering how this theory would transfer to a fraudulent SNAD- different item claim by a buyer? In my case, PP made my negative balance $0 by courtesy credits knowing I was right and they were wrong so I never had to move $ back to PP to make my negative balance $0... but how could this help other sellers? Of course the money would have had to be transferred back and forth from PP to bank and back to PP, right? Would a seller be able to file a chargeback on PP if the buyer returns a different item (a fake or generic bag) than you sent out and you can provide proof to your bank w/ shipping weights (or other evidence)? I would love everyone's thoughts on what ways sellers can document what we shipped out to show to our bank if needed...
Hmmm... this may be the way to force PP to change the way they "investigate" claims. They will not care to change until they start loosing money! But as they say... it is just the cost of doing business!! LOVE IT!!!
Again way to go OP!

I am by NO means defending Paypal, but I think they do this because so many people actually DO sell fakes. When I was the buyer in this situation, the seller was mass selling charms and I knew if I sent them back, they would just relist them and sell them to someone else, and someone else would have to go through all of the hassle that I did. Paypal had me destroy the charms so that the seller couldn't resell them. What they REALLY should do in high ticket items is have the buyer send it to them and then have an authenticating company decide if it is real or not. If it is, the seller gets it back and if not, it is destroyed. I'm pretty sure Paypal makes enough money to fund an authentication company for cases such as this

I recall something like this was tried a few years ago. Disputed items were sent to some place in Texas. Somehow many of the fake items were relisted. I am fuzzy on the details (damn CRS) but I do remember it being a scandalous situation.
