Hi guys, I joined the forum because I have a similar problem, however I'm the buyer and the seller is now scamming ME!

I purchased a Herve Leger dress on eBay but when it came it was obvious it was a copy, and not authentic (yes, now I know better to check BEFORE I buy). It also had two large holes in it. However AFTER I've sent back the dress via registered post, the seller refuses to refund my money, telling PayPal that it sounds like I've worn this dress to an event and is looking for my money back, etc.

Basically PayPal wants some proof/authentication by the 23rd of May, otherwise I basically lose the money AND the dress.

Can anyone help? Or am I pretty much stuck too?

This sounds awfully familiar. I feel like I've seen a thread about this in the last few weeks.

Kristie, really hoping Chase pulls through. I bet PP didn't think you would stick your bank on them.

I think I'm a bit confused...so OP still has her 11k right? Her account is still negative with PP?

No, when the claim was started, PP made her account negative for the 11K (because she had transferred the money from PP to her bank once the transaction was complete). The amount was "on hold" (even though a negative) until the claim was settled. So the OP put transferred the money back into her PP account so that it wouldn't be a negative. Then PP found in favor of the buyer and took the money.

Welcome! I'm sorry you are also a victim of a scam... but next time I think it'd be better to start your own thread for advice. I believe you'd get more help and responses. This is the OPs thread and helping you on here might throw off the thread completely.

However, I think unless you prove its fake, you might be out of luck. Its better to open a claim stting that it had holes in it instead of saying its fake to prevent having to proof its a fake.

aintthatin,
Why don't you start a new thread?

New members can't start threads. They have to have a certain amount of posts and days before they are allowed to.

That said, Aintthatin, you should post your question either in the Ebay chat thread or the Bonanza/Ebay questions thread that is a sticky at the top of this forum. :flowers:

I CAN'T start a new thread because "You need to contribute 10 posts in existing discussions and have 5 days of membership before the forum automatically upgrades your account and enables these features. This notice will then disappear."

Haha. Otherwise I would!

I've been stalking this forum for a while actually!

You're right! Darn! Sorry about that :okay:

Oh, okay, I did not know that new members can't start threads. Sorry.

Hi Aintthatin, we posted at the same time. :smile1: Please see my post above yours.. there's a place where newbies can post their questions until they have enough access to start their own threads. Just look at the stickies in the box at the top of this forum.

Thanks! So Chase just took the money right back from Paypal, right?

You might want to post your responses here if this is the same item: http://forum.purseblog.com/ebay-forum/buyer-claims-defect-676465.html

Just checked: amex centurion/platinum purchase protection: $50k per year claim, max per claim is $10K, but only for up to 90 days.

I hope Chase will close the dispute in your favor on the 5th business day. Please keep us posted, kristie.
