I had the same exact problem! There is a high level of kelp/iodine in Viviscal, which can be great for hair but it also widely known to cause cystic acne and breakouts, which I experienced in a very bad way. Many hair supplements contain these ingredients so I've been carefully looking for one without them. May I ask why you are having scalp injections? Is it for severe hair loss or just to promote hair growth...?
The injections promote hair growth (may hair has gotten so then over the past year). I was doing so well with both the injections and the viviscal. I can't take biotin because it breaks me out. Viviscal had a low dosage of biotin, so that is why it worked for me and had no issues with my skin. They must have added something else to the formula, because my skin went crazy. I took it for 5 months with no problems and then starting in November, my skin went bonkers. I didn't keep the old box, I used to compare, but as I mentioned, I found out on the internet, there is a maximum strength and extra strength. Their customer service agent swore to me, there was no way I could have taken the maximum strength, because they haven't made it for years.
I spoke to my dermatologist before I went on vacation a few weeks ago, and she said try taking them every other day. I also have looked for hair pills with low biotin that actually work and can't seem to find any.
