I'm sure I've posted about my blush-pink, distressed suede VW bag before. I also have clothes and shoes in the past. Very well made, the suede is thick, the logo tiny, hardware like jewelly, the lining sumptuous woven material with rolled handles, strong and well crafted.

It pains me to say but VW has gone down a lot IMO, from 10 years ago. The logos are now HUGE on most of her bags and the quality has become questionable on most of her accessories - I would only buy her tailored suits if I needed one. It's just a 'tourist' brand now.

I haven't come across many of VW's designs although a particular favorite was in a magazine from many years ago, she designed a large satchel in vibrant red/orange tartan w black leather handles I think. That particular one really stood out and I still remember it.

I noticed that too; I've been living in Japan for the past few months and Vivienne Westwood is huge in the department stores-- a few of the items are nice, but most of them are really gaudy with the HUGE Saturn (?) logo plastered all over it.

It's even worse for things like handkerchiefs and towels... it's like they don't even bother with the design or color choices. They just choose random colors, plaster the humongous logo that takes up over 70% of the cloth and call it a day.

As someone who likes brand items with VERY small logos (if at all) it makes me stay away from this brand.

I think the plaid bowler bags are super cute but as far as I know they aren't available in the US without ordering from overseas. A friend has one and I love it. I don't have one mostly because I'm not a hand held bag person.

The thing is, Vivienne Westwood isn't a handbag designer; she's a clothes designer that puts out handbags.

This might sound like sophistry - but if you think about it, the clothing she puts out (or at least the stuff she produced between 1970-2000, at least) is amazing. Gorgeous tailoring with just a few little tweaks that make it distinctive. Last Christmas, I saw someone wearing a plaid coat from 40 feet away, and start debating if it's a VW or McQueen highland rape collection. (It was VW)

However, her bags are often very standard shapes, unusual colors, and big logos. Nothing special.

I think the logo is supposed to be the Orb, part of the British Crown Jewels.
