I need some advice... I am looking to join the Regina club here  and am debating between two bags I found. Both were made in the 90s and have already been authenticated here. One is black and the other is beige/white.

I would love to get both but I’m trying to not to that..

Black/dark brown is typically my default because they would match everything and easier to touch up in terms of colour (though I haven’t actually tried yet..). However, the seller might be questionable- even though the bag itself has been authenticated, I was also warned that the seller has very recently listed some fakes. So I don’t know how I feel about buying from her....

The beige bag is so cute! And the condition is supposedly lightly used (the pictures seem to corroborate but you never know). However, I bought a light colour Devon bag earlier this year and it was a lot of work to clean up! Even though I now love that bag and use it occasionally (nervously, I should add -I wouldn’t want to risk staining it even if it isn’t totally perfect)

I should add that I do have a black Winnie (and still regret not getting the beige one immediately when the seller offered it to me after I had bought the black). I think those two bags are quite similar in size?

Or I could skip the Reginas and just get the new trail bag??? what do you all think? I think I need to hear more points of view before I can make a decision!!! Thanks a lot for reading!

I love the Regina bag, and I vote for that! However there are two things you need to know about this style:
1) It is pretty small. I barely carry anything with me: a tiny folded wallet, a card case, a lipstick, and a pair of sunglasses in a case, phone goes in the back pocket. I have an iPhone X, and it you have a bigger phone it wouldn't fit in the back pocket.
2) The strap is really really long. This works ok for me because I carry it by the handle most of the time, and when I don't want to carry it I wear it crossbody. The strap is too long for shoulder wear, IMO. Also, my daughter is 5'6" and the strap is too long for crossbody for her, the bag hangs down low by her hip. It is not adjustable.
Regina's seem to sell quickly, so you could try it and see how it works for you, and sell it if you don't like it. I'm not a fan of the new trail bag - it doesn't seems as elegant as Regina. Join the Regina club! Get the black one, so classy!

Thank you for the lead on the deal, pruetjx! I’ll message the seller to see if they’d ship to Canada.

I don’t typically carry much either. In fact I’m specifically looking for a smaller bag since I have to wear a backpack during the week because of work. Carrying another large crossbody would just be too cumbersome. It’s interesting that the iPhone X doesn’t fit inside the Regina though! If that’s the only thing you carry would it fit? I have a Winnie and a canteen and I can fit my iPhone 8, my card case, and keys in both. Is the Regina smaller than those bags?

Thanks so much for sharing! I really appreciate the note about the strap. I should pull out a measuring tape to try it out!

Ps. Yes I do already have a few smaller bags but the Regina is just so dainty!
Pps. It’s all this forum’s fault that I even know about the Regina.. haha. I love the bad influence though!!

I think the regina is larger then the winnie. The regina is more triangular and I find it easier to fit things in it, winnie is just a little box. I agree go with the black. We love making people fall in love with a bag.

I have a Regina and Winnie. The Winnie can barely fit more than a small wallet (card case for me), a packet of tissues, lip balm, and keys. The interior is very tiny and just can't accommodate bulkier items. I live in smaller bags and can carry all my essentials in a Regina. The only thing I can't fit is my sunglasses case and I end up using a soft pouch to protect them, but I can fit my mini planner, a small cosmetics case, a card case, my earbuds, a couple of lip products and my keys. As for the new trail bag, if the dimensions are similar to the old one, it's not practical. I do love mine, but like the Winnie I use it as an evening/date night bag. I don't like stacking things on top of each other in my purses, no matter how small, but because of the shape of a trail bag, I find I have to.

So went to the nyc coach originals pop up. It was great. The bags they remade were really pretty. Got some stuff. Good day. Wanted a pillow but when I went back and they were gone. Lol. All those bags hanging there are new bags remade in the vintage style.

I am sorry, I mistyped. My iPhone X does fit in the back pocket of the Regina, but peeks out a bit at the top. I meant to write if you have the iPhone Plus or some other really large phone it might not fit. I think you'll be fine with the 8.

Wow, those remade Courier Flap bags are just calling to me. I don't really like the older flap bags because they are just one big open pocket, but I like these new versions. Does anyone know if these will be offered at regular stores, or is this just a special product for this week only?

They are on the website right now.

What fun! Thanks for sharing the pictures. The colorful row of vintage minis is lovely!

The remade styles are visually appealing because they remind me of the originals. My heart belongs to vintage...it's hard to improve on that hand crafted, glove-tanned, full-grain cowhide with the natural variations.

Thank you for comparing the Regina and the trail bag, reginatina! That’s super helpful. I suspected that the trail bag might be too oddly shaped for me because of the half cylinder shape (?), so I really appreciate you verifying that! I think I would still love to get a vintage trail bag one day, the new ones just don’t speak to me the same way and I was only really tempted due to the price.

About the Regina bag, do you also mostly hand carry? I’m trying to figure out how much the extra long strap would bug me. The Winnie is the only bag I have so far that has a handle but I still like to use the strap. Checking the listing for the Regina again, the strap drop is listed at 27”! So I was actually wondering if the strap hooks (?) are small enough to loop into the triangular d-ring, ie can the strap be doubled up so at least I can shoulder carry? Thanks a lot!

No, you can't double it up. The clasps are too big for the little rings. However, if you have another bag with a strap you like in the same color, you can switch them. I bought a green Regina recently, and I used the strap from my green Lenox, and it worked ok. It wasn't perfect because the clasps on the normal sized straps are thicker. The Regina has small, dainty clasps. I'll take a picture of it in the morning with both straps.
Maybe someone knows of another bag that the strap could work? The Regina has a very thin strap.

Thank you for confirming that, pruetjx!! And thanks for offering to share pictures. I’m still not deterred :) since I think I can switch the strap from the Winnie. But yes it would be great to see the comparisons!

I mostly use the strap for my Regina. Oddly enough, all my vintage bags I tend to use the crossbody strap even if they have a top handle (Willis, trail, Regina). My newer bags I don't. If they have a shoulder strap (Chelsea) or a top handle (Rogue), I don't use the crossbody strap.

I will say, I'm 5'7", my torso is longer and my legs are short to average, so wearing the Regina crossbody isn't an issue. It hits me right at the hip. The strap is thin, so it tends to dig into my shoulder after a bit. I do want to carry it by the handle, but the handle is so nicely shaped that I don't want to ruin it. I know, I know.

As @pruetjx said, you can't double up the strap and those clasps are extra dainty. I have seen other people knot the strap to the desired length. I'll try my Pocket Purse strap tomorrow and see if it works. The rings on the Regina are smaller.
